Staying in a hotel

I just got back from the Casino and stayed in a beautiful 4 star room.
I couldn't find one thing or one stain to complain about.
It was fantastic how nice and unbelievably clean this hotel room was.
Just wondering if anyone has any rituals or tips on staying in hotels?I saw that whole thing on tv about the cleaning ladies not washing glasses properly or with the same cloth they washed the tub and toilet with.I took my own plastic glasses, however I did notice how sparkling the glass glasses were.
Didn't even cross my mind to were flip flops in the shower or pass a black light over the duvet.
Anyone got horror stories?

Stayed in many, many ultra-cheap motel rooms while on the road in rock bands over a period of 15 years. I've seen it all. Roaches, mice, bats, snakes, a vast array of bodily fluids, drugs left behind, unspeakable mold buildups, rotting food stuck under mattresses...

I want 10% off because your service wasn't good an I couldn't have a 100% satisfaction.
But, what happened "sir"?
Well... when I checked in, I payed xyz dollars for the "full service".
Yes, and?
Well, It wasn't enough! I entered the room, everything was perfect. That's the problem! Where are the mice? and the spiders? the yellow cum spots on the mattress? the used condoms inside the pillowcases? the sink drain clogged with hair, the brown spots on the toilet seat, the roaches, the stupid bellboy asking for the tips?
I'm sorry sir, we don't have this things because we have an excellent quality protocol.
Quality protocol? Go to hell! where are the old style hotels?
I want my f***ing money back NOW!
