A former neighbour (I now have lots of them!) had a steam cleaner that looked partly like a canister vacuum, and partly like a high tech rice cooker, and it was wonderful. However, she moved out of town, and I forget the brand name of the steamer.

Can you wise people suggest something like that?

Are you referring to a steam cleaner that cleans surfaces by forcing steam, or a carpet cleaner?

I am pretty familiar with both, but am not clear on what you are describing.

The machine

I thought I had described in the first post of this thread is a high capacity hard surface steam cleaner.

It's now painfully obvious that I was not sufficiently specific.

Several friends have steam carpet machines. No one I have asked has a hard surface steam cleaner.

A friend of mine passed on to me a machine that sounds like your description. It was made for the commercial/restaurant market. It's a Kleenjet deluxe 150. This model is several years old, has been even more deluxified with a stainless outer tank and more output power. Overall, I think it's a nice machine, though have only used it on cat stains in the carpet. Actually worked quite well. The closest unit to mine is the Pro Plus 200s.

Thought I might be able to help, as I use these often, but I am only familiar with steam cleaners for household use, as opposed to industrial. This one is is very good and more powerful than usual for household use. Good Luck in your search.

I bought a steam cleaner (se below) and it is honestly one of the best things I have purchased.

It gets the smell from the carpets when the cat brings rats into the house, and cleans the bathroom beautifully with no use of chemicals.

Also great for defrosting the freezer and cleaning the cooker!

I bought it thinking it would not work, but I would not never be without one, when this one dies I will upgrade to a big Polti steamer, maybe with the iron attachment.

Holy crap! I have a Shark Steamer (it was a gift) it's that little purple one that is small and hand held but you can add attachments to it to make it "full size".....It works pretty good but I would have NEVER THOUGHT TO DO THIS with it. I have a small fridge that has a little freezer compartment caked with ice. I'm gonna go do that now! (LOL)
