Well Guy's

Looks like everyone is pretty smiley around there! Does that mean you got that thing apart! Or, did you give up and start drinking beer?

I looks like you guys had a lot of fun! I'm glad to see that beautiful Maytag in a good, loving home with an adoring extended family - congrats on a beautiful appliance collection Steve! I'm sorry, I was going to call you but Jill Corey distracted me today...

So were the washers swapped in and out in the same space? Looks like the Maytag and theh Frigidaire are in the same spot.

HEY STEVE,
GLAD EVERYTHING WENT WELL, DID YOU GET TUB PROBLEM SOLVED,
NEW BOOT COMING FOR FL FRIG, TALK WITH YOU SOON, NO OVER SUDSING THE MAYTAG!!!

Yes, I have only one usable hook-up and that is in the kitchen, so every time I want to hook up a different machine it requires me fetching one from storage or the garage and switching them out! A hassle I have come to live with. The damn '59Kenmore will still not give up that inner tub, so the next step will be to take a welders torch to the spin tube and see if that will free it up. Bethann, we were just delerious on washers like cats on catnip! No beer or wine flowing (although I tried to interest folks in a little snort around 5PM or so) so we had burgers off the grill and chocolate cake and the house wine of the south. All together wonderful day and of course what really makes it is sharing fun and expierences with others. I wish everyone on the web site could have come over. That is why I am sooooo looking forward to this years convention---can't wait to meet everyone face to face!!!!!! -Steve

Steve(gyrofoam)

Enjoyed the pix of y'all at the mini wash-in. Cool machines! And I noticed your house is a 1920's(?) vintage. I love the molding and the doorstyle of it. Do you live in Atlanta itself? I would have loved one of those old craftsman style bungs we have here and in many other cities with a front porch across the front and all the embellishments. It's getting hard to find one as the properties are either run down and the neighborhood is too dangerous or the owners have refurbished them and want a fortune for one. Just thought I would ask if you bought and remodeled the house you live in. David

HI STEVE!!! CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR VERY FIRST WASH-IN!!! LOOKS AS THOUGH IT WAS A WASHING SUCCESS!!! YOU GO GIRL!!!:~)

Congratulations

Steve - Nice wash-in! Don't you just love sharing an afternoon in the Laundry Studio with friends??!! Winter is the best time once those Trannys get hot they radiate like steam heat and the hot water washes moisturize your skin!

Lovely machines, I have a suggestion for your Kenmore frozen tub: run down to AutoZOne and get spray can of PM RustBuster. Spray the tub and shaft and let soak a few days then spray again and whack the tub with a rubber mallet. If it ever will break apart without cutting that will do it. I hate to see you after the tub with a cutting torch.
Good Luck
Jet

PS I'll BET GOLITTLESPORT LIKES THAT 56 Frigidaire!!

Hi! It was so good to get everyone together to visit. I just loved it. That damn '59 Kenmore is driving me crazy! Today Steve 1-18 and I took a torch to the spin tube. We were careful not to get things too hot, but the #@*&%$#@ thing just will not give up that inner tub. I just don't know what else to do, and I so want to get her up and running---at least "sea-worthy"! I used "Zoom-Spout" Rust Penetrant and let her soak it up over a period of four days! On the second day shot some WD-40 on top of that. It really feels as though what ever is holding it is at the top of the spin tube. Thanks for your kind advice. Who knows, if I keep cussing at it eventually the damn thing might come loose! -Steve

Cussing usually helps, at least in your mind. I understand the frustration these can cause. I have had them stuck so bad I could swear there was something else holding it. The only answer is to keep working it and eventually it will come loose. When it does you will feel great satisfaction. Keep working it. It will come.

Where's the Dryer?

Here is a link to a picture of the washer and dryer in the kitchen. Also check the whole album again. A few more pictures have been added. Dryer is (I think the BEST dryer I have ever owned!) a Maytag Model# DG882 Gas unit. Washer is a (recently rescued) 1965 Frigidaire "Roller-Matic" with MANY mechanical and cosmetic issues---yet to be resolved! It looks like someone tried to scrub the console with steel-wool!

I had so much fun at the wash-in. Doing a load in the 56 unimatic brought back memories of my childhood at my aunt's house on Saturday mornings. Steve, thanks so much for being such a great host and good luck with the 59 Kenmore. I hope that damn spin tub comes out soon. I can't wait for the convention this summer to play with other great machines and meet more of you.
Les
