Once a Sube, always a Sube. The latest ride (2013 Impreza 2.0i Premium [AWD/AT∞*]) after a 1992 Legacy L (FWD/MT5) and 1996 Legacy L (AWD/AT4).

Can't wait to take it Tahoe in May. Driving a Subaru to Lake Tahoe is like homecoming, no matter where you live.

*OK, OK, it's a CVT.

6 of my neighbors have a Subaru. But I need a truck and I love my new Silverado. Takes 6 people, will climb a mountain, throw basically what ever you need in the bed and tow whatever you need to. I seem to be the one that they always ask to tow something or pick something big up. I dont mind because I always get thanked nicely. Got good neighbors.

I don't see many Subaru's around here for some reason. If my 2003 Impala ever decides to die (which I don't see happening anytime soon, 174,000 miles and counting, still drives like new) I imagine I will buy another one. It has been the best car I have ever owned, almost no repairs, even with high mileage.

Was thinking of this when playing the game "What would I buy were I to buy a car right now?" EPA mpg ratings were pretty good. Would love to know what you get in the real world.

Thanks.

Nice car! I hope that it serves you well in its lifetime.

One question to those here though: Is it just me, or does this car look shockingly similar to the Ford Focus Hatchback?

It would be really nice if car manufacturers tried a little harder to individualise their offerings... Sometimes, you can barely tell the difference between cars these days.

As soon as half of the complimentary fill-up is used . . .

. . . I'll conduct a real fuel economy run (fill the tank, reset the trip odometer, drive as usual until less than a quarter-tank remains, refuel at the same pump without topping-off, note the amount, do the math).

Could take a while. My daily commute is 14 miles one-way and I don't do a lot of extra curricular driving.

beautiful ride....could we see a few pics of the interior....although it does resemble a few others, I like the beefed up look of the hood....

it this one Turbo?.....I was thinking of a Baja before I got the Jeep, until I saw its size in person....and wanted something bigger....but these are packed with nice features.....

congrats and many miles of good luck....

''it this one Turbo?''

No, just the standard 2.0 liter engine. I'll post some interior and instrumentation pictures. Inside, it feels at least as roomy as the 1997 Legacy (now parked in the street and awaiting donation to charity), so the newest Legacy must be like driving a living room.

I helped a friend drive her year and a half old Subaru (less sporty sedan like above) to Boston last summer, it drove nicely overall. The biggest failing for me is the low passenger seat - she'd never sat in it until I took the wheel and she was like "wow, you were right about it".

I have to say after driving friends cars (Altima, Camry, etc) that my ancient Civic is still more fun to drive and simpler overall.

As promised, interior and instrumentation photos

Most of the instrument lighting is red. The vacant area of the LCD panel above the trip odometer is where the shift selector status appears. When you use the paddle shifters, it displays one of 6 simulated gears. The radio and climate control are the basic versions.

Once a Sube, always a Sube.

Couldn't agree more. Congrats on the new ride. Very sharp looking!!

I'm on my 3rd Subaru now and am just beginning to think about a new one (135,000 miles, 9 year old Outback LL Bean) I was just at the dealer having service and really liked the Impreza but that it was little to small. I don't care to much for the new Outback, but I did really like the redesigned Forester and also the Legacy sedan. Time will tell if a new one is in the cards but it will be a Subaru for sure.

Beginning the pre-broken-in fuel economy run

Filled the tank at pump no. 2 at the USA station at the corner of Foothill Blvd. and Locust Ave. in Fontana, CA.

I'll be back at the half-empty mark with the Impreza's trip computer MPG rating.

Stay tuned!

turbo or not....its still beautiful....inside and out.....

I have the AutoStick in my Jeep, which confuses me on this one because of the side to side shifting pattern, in the Eagle it was a forward/backward bump to shift, it felt more like an actual shifter movement....fun to play with......

my opinion, those paddle shifters just doesn't seem/feel right...I could never get the hang of them...

I'm planning to get a Justy 4WD, but they are so friggin' rare in The Netherlands :( The Suzuki Cultus/Swift 4WD aka Justy AWD is much better to get here :c

I drove my boss's

And I liked it well enough. But the CVT was......well just plain strange. Drive normally hard to tell from a conventional automatic. Nail the gas and it reminds me of a badly slipping clutch. Not to mention the attendant noise from the boxer engine.

And, like so many cars today, it was missing the temperature gauge. That is, IMHO, a gotta have considering idiot lights are not always reliable and only warn when a problem has occurred.

The new Mazdas also lack a temp gauge. Surprising considering Mazda's sporty heritage.

Subaru's constant commercials locally are not what I want to spend several minutes an hour of my life being forced to watch. Blind Lemon Cucumber, come on, who cares about LOVEING your car, since it obviously cant love you back. I had 3 of them and the dealer could find anything it could find that could be wrong and give you a huge bill. Dont even get me going about paying for their Rusty Jones rustprofing and paint protection you had no choice on getting and they went belly up and owners got the shaft. Too bad, so sad. Lots of my neighbors have them, but I need a truck, see attached that works for me perfect. Takes 6 people, tows whatever you need and throw whatever you need in the back. I have only had it 6 months but average MPG with the new Eco Tech 5.3 V8 that shifts to a 4 gets me over 18. I am impressed. My old 95 Silverado might get 8 mpg this time of year.
