A lovely Temperence Beverage-
"Veranda Punch"
Juice of 3 lemons (good 1/2-3/4 cup)
Juice of 3 oranges (about 1 1/2 cups)
1/2 cup simple (sugar) syrup
1 cup brewed tea (I use Red Rose Decaf)
1 pint ginger ale (can and a half- chilled)
1 pint sparkling water (chilled)
Mix juices and syrup, add the hot tea. Let cool to room temperature.
Add the chilled ginger ale and sparkling water.
Serves 8-12 in punch cups.
Easily doubled, tripled, quadrupled.
This is from a funny old cookbook an aunt of mine had. The punch is surprisingly good. Plus, the name (theirs, not mine, is a hoot!).
