I bought a box of Sun powder detergent a couple of weeks ago, at the Family Dollar Store, not bad for a cheap detergent. Today, I bought a bottle of Sun liquid detergent 2x, and so for it seems to be cleaning pretty well.

Anyone use Sun, did you like it or hate it?

I have used it before and its ok, what scent did you get? the scents used to be much better before they went to 2x concentrated. The only one I like now is the vanilla lavender, and I think the rest smell like dish soap.

I use it as a utility soap for rags, cleaning cloths, throw blankets, curtains and rugs. Where ever I need just a basic clean. No stain removal, etc. Rags and cleaning cloths get bleach anyway.

I save my good detergent (Mexican Ariel) for clothes, sheets, and bath towels only.

what scent did you get?

Tropical Breeze, I haven't noticed an lingering scent on the clothes yet. One of my work shirts had some pizza sauce stains on it and I used Dawn with bleach on the stain, bleach, and the Sun detergent and the stain came out. I usually don't have very good luck getting out this type of stain.

Maybe FrankenTag is the reason the stain came out :-)

Dawn with bleach on the stain, bleach, and the Sun detergent

Mmmmm.....I can't see why it wouldn't have after being hit with that chemical arsenal....

The only way you can really see if a detergent is effective is to use it without any other additives....

Sun and doller store

I know its hard to pass up certain items in the doller store, you always figure "you cant go wrong for a buck" and I have bought Rinso there but, there not made in the U.S.A anymore, and I question the ingredients, " What are some of those chemicals??and where did they come from? I`am trying to buy more made in USA, products if possible. I buy Dr Bronners Sal Suds 32oz for about $12.00 and only use about 2oz per load,so it costs me a buck a load. my $12.00 stays here at home, go`s to family operation here, and I dont have to worry about chemicals that may hurt my washer, me, or anyone else. And it gets the clothes clean. Just my two cents, or in this case my doller! LOL

The next time I get pizza sauce on my white shirt, I will was it with the detergent alone and see what happens.

I still like the Sears UltraPlus detergent the best, just didn't have enough $$$ to get it this week.

tried Sun and was apalled

A few years ago I went to Ohio with my best friend to have Christmas with his family. We stayed at his sister's house because his Mom and Dad wouldn't allow two men in the same bed at their house, but I digress.I always do my friends laundry when we go away and his sister only had Sun in the house. After that trip our whites were dingy and my delicates looked old. Even minor dirt was a problem for this detergent. i must have done 5 loads on that trip. Give Me and Peter Tide anyday.

Hey Stan,

We bought a BIG box of the Sears powdered laundry detergent ($20 on sale) and it lasted a little over a year with our front loader. It was the FREE version with no perfumes or dyes (our clothes smelled like.... go figure... clothes!!!). I went to get another box but they only had the smaller one available at the time for $13. Bought it anyway! We spent $20 for laundry detergent for a year and will now spend $13 for 6 months. I wish more our bills could pare down this way!!!
