Yesterday, while doing the grocery run and in Wal-Mart, I noticed a new line of liquid fabric softener, Sun's Cuddle Soft, newly stocked on the shelves. I bought the Original Fresh scent. I just wonder if anyone here has had any experience with this softener, and had any thoughts to share?

The Original Fresh scent isn't too terribly strong (but then again, my sense of smell isn't the greatest), and it has jogged a memory - the scent is very reminiscent of a fabric softener scent from my childhood (late 1960s, early 1970s), the brand name being lost to the ages. I wasn't all that in to doing the laundry 'way back then, so I never paid attention to the brand names of products that my mother used.

Won't be doing laundry until Sunday, so I will be curious as to how the product will work. If not satisfied, I guess it will be no great loss - the 60 load bottle cost $2-something.

Thanks for anyone's input.

The smell..

I'm not the only one who noticed that then.. I was an 80's baby, but when I tried out the Cuddle Soft fabric softener I noticed the same thing. It smells identical to the softener my uncle's wife used when I was little, but for the life of me I can't remember what brand it was. Something lower end I'm sure, as she was notoriously cheap, (I've seen the woman add water to bottles of ketchup and such to make them go further, and no, they weren't that poor).

Performance wise, it does a decent job. But don't use it for laundry washed with the new formula Oxydol powder. The fragrances don't blend as they should, and after drying, the clothes smell just like a bottle of Murphy's Oil Soap. No idea how it does with other detergents.

Hmmm...

...could be a low-end softener that my mother used. Diluting the ketchup made me laugh, as my parents were notorious diluters (to my father's dying day, in 2006, he diluted the liquid hand soap), and I always chalked that up to their both growing up during the depression.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who finds Cuddle Soft to smell of something from years ago.

If I decide to use fabric softener on certain loads, I use the Cuddle Soft dryer sheets and alternate between the regular and lavender. My laundry comes out of the dryer relatively soft and doesn't have an overpowering or atrocious scent.

Cuddle Soft update...

I ran a small load of laundry, and just pulled the lot from the dryer. I was really looking forward to seeing how the Cuddle Soft worked, and I must say - I am pretty pleased by the results. I did have reservations about the product as I poured the dose into the dispenser - it seemed to be fairly thin and watery, but in the end, it worked very well. The items out of the dryer are nice and soft, and there is just a hint of scent, not overpowering at all. One needs to really stick one's nose in the dried clothing to catch a whiff. I won't have to worry about bees and yellow jackets fallowing me around!

While this was a small load, and an early reaction, I am pleased with the softener so far, and it seems like money well spent.

Just wanted to post these thoughts.
