Yeah Brian, I agree. Non-DW safe stuff doesn't sit well with me. I like to be able to put everything in the DW, with the exception of wooden utensils of course.

I knew I got the two of you that asked Questions screwed up. Sorry.
But I put Wooden Utensils in the DW anyway. They just come out so Clean !!!
I was thinking of Kevin with the Chocolate Pumpkin Pie when I replied.

Stainless Steal Panels
Eddie,
I don't know if you're interested or not, but you can get those panels off Ebay.
Go to Ebay, type in dishwasher panels, go to second page first line in gallery view and they're the panels between the KitchenAid Control panel and the GE Control Panel. His store is legacysedge 88. Click on the panels. They're $37.00. .028 gauge. The panels that fit your machine will be described as being 23 1/2 x 18 3/4 and 23 1/2 x 6 1/2. There maybe some more listed in his store somewhere.
If you decide you want them you will need to take the other two panels out of the front of the machine to put the stainless ones in. You should probably clean the two old panels that came out of your machine. After being sandwiched in there for 30 plus years they might have a little dirt around the edges and in between them. It took quite a bit of cleaning for me to clean mine, but my machine had been used more than yours. After you clean them, wrap them in plastic and put in a safe place for keeping. You can slide out the cardboard insert and check the inter door while you're at it, if you decide you're interested.
