Superba 21 not drying

I picked up this KDS21 a few weeks ago. It washes well but doesn't dry. Even using a rinse agent my plastic items are still very wet. The flo-thru drying fan IS running during the dry cycle....but the items are not even that hot when finished.

Is this the nature of the 21's, or do I have a problem?

Check further...

Is the energy saver button stuck causing the heating element to not come on? Are all the wires connected on the dryer housing? Is the element heating up at all? Do you feel any air coming out of the space between the upper door and lower panels when it is drying?

The small squirrel cage blower wheel can loosen over time and may not spin to deliver air even if the motor is running.

There is also a small limiting thermostat mounted to the housing that may be bad or a wire may have fallen or burned off.

Just some basic checking and troubleshooting may shed more light on the problem.
Let us know what you find.

*No...it is not stuck and performs like all the other buttons.

Are all the wires connected on the dryer housing?
*Yes, all wires are connected and look like new...nothing looks burnt

Is the element heating up at all?
*The element does not seem to be heating up during the dry cycle. I opened the door to check it several times and it was not hot at all.

Do you feel any air coming out of the space between the upper door and lower panels when it is drying?
*Yes, I feel air coming out between the doors.

Do you have a multimeter?

And do you know how to use it safely? If yes, then check the continuity of the element itself. It may be burned out. Check continuity of the high limit thermostat.
And check all the neutral wires under the machine for any breaks. They can look good but like many have said before, Hobart did not have the greatest terminals on their harnesses. I have found that to be the case more often than not.
If you need any parts for the drying unit, let me know. Cleaning out stock!

Oh, and by the way, make sure the power is off to the machine at the breaker or the plug when doing continuity tests.

I don't know how to use a mulitmeter.

I should have mentioned that the heating element does turn on to heat water and works well for that.

Note : This DW has both a Dry heater and a heating element for heating water, the heating element in the sump is not used at all during the dry cycle, do check out the heater element in the metal blower housing in the right-rear of the DW as Steve sugested, you have to get to it from under the DW.

FIXED!

Thanks Gentleman! I found a loose connection on the little thermostat wire that's on the blower....I pinched it tight and it now works...

Now to work on the gurgling problem. I replaced the flapper in the check valve and it worked for a couple of washes but started gurgling again today.
