Surf Laundry Detergent Trinidad

Went to the supermarket today i was hit with a high Lemon and floral aroma only to find surf detergent being manufactured right here in trinidad! There are 2 fragrances sun fresh and rose fresh. Powder is blue is colour and heavily perfumed. First load is in the washer.

If it is the same as the Sun Fresh “Surf” we had in the UK?

It was a gorgeous scent.

It was sold as the RADION brand, but when that was discontinued in 1999 due to fact that in the 10 years of it being around it had only captured 2% of the market despite being the most readily identifiable detergent on the shelves (very bright Orange packets). They moved it over to their already existing Surf brand and called it Surf “Sun Fresh”.

But alas, Surf Sun Fresh was also discontinued in 2004 when Surf changed their line from Sun Fresh, Cotton Fresh and Lemon Fresh to the ones we have now. It has never returned

Pics of the packets there, I’m going to say that it isn’t the original Sun Fresh.

The yellow one looks like what we call Lemon and Mandarin Flowers, and the Pink one is called Tropical Lily and Ylang Ylang.

Lemon is a nice smell, but I would give anything for Unilever to bring back the original Sun Fresh .

Does it wash well? Surf is a good enough detergent, but here in the U.K. a lot of the range only has 1 enzyme. Only some of the newer scents in liquid detergent (which to be fair there is at least 10 different scents for liquid) have 3 enzymes.

The first load just finished. The scent is milder after wash it was very intense as a powder. I now threw them in the dryer so after I'll know. The only downfall is it suds alot. Most people in the Caribbean still have twin tubs and Automatic toploaders using alot of water. My gym laundry smells fresh and clean though not muaty again

Ingredients - No Enzymes

The Sun Fresh appears to have no enzymes at all, according to the ingredients list in photo #3.

Not surprising. Many bottom or middle shelf detergents are not only devoid of enzymes, but usually anything else associated with top shelf products. Here in the states we had tons of such things; Trend, Purex, Arm & Hammer, etc....

Formulation to include enzymes is complex which adds to the total cost of product. Besides these days as in recent past there are plenty of laundry boosters full of enzymes, bleaches (oxygen), and so forth. So the lack of them isn't necessarily a deal breaker.

The laundry was actually fresh and clean with a faint but present fresh and pleasant scent. Took away all my musty gym odors. We all have purex manufactured in Guatemala here. Right now i have the Lavender Variant. I'll attach pictures tommorow.

Thanks Launderess I tend to buy a detergent that has everything and then I use oxygenated bleach with added enzymes and surfactants. Might be a bit of overkill to some people lol
