Was it just me or would everyone else be surprised to see Bold on store shelves again?

A friend of mine called me this week to say that Lowe's had it on the laundry supplies shelf, so I went to see for myself today. Sure enough....It's made by P&G, and it smells like the Bold of the 80s, so I bought a 31 load box. It's called Bold Plus.
I will find out how it works today, but I was surprised to see it available, and I can't find it on a P&G website.

Was Bold labled a cold water wash?
I remember it, it smelled really nice.
It had a red and blue box at the time.

We here in New England still can find Bold Plus on the shelves. I never buy the stuff since it has the softener built into it. And to me it doesnt clean all that great. I really wish they would bring the old style Bold back without softener. That cleaned well and the smell was awesome.

rpm

Rpm - it's not specifically marketed for cold water washes but the box on the back says hot/warm/cold like most everything else.

I used it today - it smells like the Bold3 of the 80s which I liked.

Hy-Vee Food Stores

I have seen and purchased Bold Plus from area Hy-Vee Food Stores. The box is a pink colored box *from what I am told by those with working eyeballs.* Unless my nose has become so dull of smelling, *to me,* it does not smell quite like the original Bold 3 of the early to mid 80s, but probably smells more like the revamped Bold of the 90s after P&G dropped Solo and combined it to be made as that version of Bold.--Laundry Shark

Kik Corporation Website

It would amaze us that even the bigtime companies often outsource there product line manufacturing in this fashion. For instance, Heritage Brands LLC is now part of this Kik Corporation. P&G is one of those outfits mentioned.--Laundry Shark

Some of us were discussing it here a few months ago. I mentioned that it is the highest sudsing detergent I've used in years. Opinions of its cleaning power were not that high, but it's okay. It makes sheets and towels smell very nice, I think, without being overpowering.

By the way, the box is mainly red, laundryshark, though it does have a couple of pink stripes.

OOOPS!

My mistake. I'm about half dead here and didn't read your first post all that carefully.

I do know that Bold was brought into the market as a low suds detergent. I wonder if that still holds true today.

No, the Bold available now is definitely not low sudsing! Definitely hard to find here since most of our supermarkets in Connecticut have all but stopped carrying powders.
Mike - i don't think the Bold available now actually contains softener - at least the ingredients don't seem to list anything that resembles softeners.

That said, it really doesn't clean all that well, but for things you want to smell "sort of vintage", I guess it is ok.

Mostly Red It is...

Funny how package colors change. *grins* In any case, if we now can figure out how Bold Plus is coming along without much fanfare (and who actually produces it); in otherwords, haven't heard any ads for it.--Laundry Shark

I am not sure why P&G wouldn't produce it. I know that (according to Forbes magazine) P&G makes Oxydol for Redox and the graphics on the Bold box seem to be very much the same as other P&G brands.

The ingredients are listed as "including" biodegradable surfactants and enzymes, so that doesn't rule out softener, but angus is right, it doesn't specifically claim to have them.

I used some of the Bold immediately after writing yesterday and I was moderately impressed. I used it on a load of white towels, and it was definitely not a high sudsing detergent. My belt-drive Kenmores don't kick up the suds that some others do, especially compared to a direct drive machine, but a high-sudsing detergent in my experience seems to always come out of hiding in rinse water, especially on towels. The rinse was uneventful.

Odd about the package - it's called "Bold Plus", but plus what? I thought softener too, but I don't think it has any. It simply says "For clean, soft clothes...".

I do like the scent, still very retro for me.
