Tesco Bio Powder

I was looking at Tesco online, and realised that their biological powder is made, and packed, in the UK. Who makes it? Is it McBride of Manchester? (And it's got the 'Which? Best Buy 2016' too).

I had presumed that like the tablets, it was made in Spain by Persan.

My local Tesco for some unfathomable reason, has not had the Bio powder on their shelves for several years (the Non-bio is always on the shelves) - you'd think they'd jump at the chance to get free publicity and maximise sales. Clearly not.

My Tesco has the Bio, but I did notice the tablets don’t have the “Best Buy” on them, so don’t know if they’re the same formulation/manufacturer?

But yes, you’d think they’d make use of the free publicity of having an own line Best Buy Powder product (something that only Lidl can boast at the moment, as Aldi have lost theirs on the last test). Unless it just doesn’t sell in your area, so your local Tesco just don’t stock it.

And is also an improvement, I used Tesco own brand bio powder a good few years ago, and it was beyond crap, I’d swear the clothes come out dirtier than when they went in.

I definitely know Sainsbury’s line of own brand detergents are all made in various places depending on which product it is, so should imagine Tesco is the same.

It's funny you should say that. Parents switched to a shop's own brand, but Mum ended up switching back to Ariel again. She said the store version made the whites grey. I can't remember if it was 2015 Tesco Non Bio, or Ultra Bio from Home Bargains (McBride made). Anyway, Ariel made them white again.

Oh, my Tesco is beyond weird. They discontinue lines depending on which way the wind is blowing.

Certainly do, I also think they haven’t quite got over that spat with Unilever about 18 months ago as they always seem to be reluctant to stock the newer Persil products (from recall they have never stocked the Persil duo caps (the liquid and powder in one), they were also very slow on the uptake of Powergems.

Agree with regards the lower grade products, they just can’t match the branded products, but have to say they have got much better in recent years, but as always, some are great and some not so.

My local Asda had them for ages, but Tesco didn't. Even Tesco's ATM (hole-in-the-wall) carried an on-screen advert for them - but none in-store.

When they finally did stock them, they flogged them at a fraction of the price - almost as if they wanted the shelf space for something else.

Strange but true.

It with Tesco, they probably did.

I find Asda tend to get a lot of new products first surprisingly, especially P&G ones (Suppose because Asda (of course Walmart) and PG are both US Companies).

Doesn’t make them carry more US products though, which I would imagine wouldn’t be that hard for them due to both being American and Walmart is actually P&Gs biggest customer.
