Tesco Naturally Detergent (Bio Tablets - too harsh!

Just tried some Tesco Naturally Biological Washing Tablets in our Aqualtis. They're way way too harsh. My clothes have come out slightly faded and some of the prints on t-shirts were damaged! This has never happened with Ariel, Persil or Ecover!

It's back to Ariel and Persil colour I think!

The Tesco Naturally dishwasher tablets also caused my Bosch dishwasher to over-foam and cancel the wash!! Took hours to clear it out.

I'd recommend avoiding these products!!

I guess this is Tesco's answer to Sainsburys Clean Home range, or perhaps it is the other way around?!............. I am currently using the Clean Home Dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid and it is very good. Wouldn't normally by it but they wer all reduced to half price, perhaps they are not selling. Is the Tesco Naturally range billed as being environmentally friendly?

Yup, it's their environmentally friendly range and seems to 'borrow' from ecover's branding and packaging!!

I've used the Cleanhome fabric softener and been very impressed - as good as Ecover for half the price, and I've heard our Cleanhome non-bio liquid is supposed to be quite good too, so a friend from work says.

Cleanhome is indeed our answer to Ecover, in a similar way to Tesco Naturally, however I don't think they are as eco-friendly as Ecover as if you look at the ingredients list for the Cleanhome bio powder it still contains optical brighteners, zeolites and synthetic perfume, which are all things Ecover swears against. Not sure about how they sell - they always seem to be pretty popular and a lot of people seem to buy it, whether its just because it's relatively new to the market I don't know.

I quite like ecover's products, they work really well and smell nice.

This tesco naturally bio tablet forumla is pretty old-school and harsh though!

Ingredients listed on pack:

Zeolites, Oxygen based bleaching agent (percarbonate) 15-30%
Non-ionic surfactants 5-15%
Polycarboxylates, Soap, Perfume and Enzymes (Proteases, Amylases) - less than 5%
Also contains Carbonates, Silicates, TAED, Bentonite, CMC and Organic chelating agents.

Ecover's a whole other level of ecofriendly! That doesn't seem much better than Ariel or Persil really.

Oh dear, that doesn't sound at all good. I've haven't heard of Tesco's Naturally range until now but from what I read it sounds as though that it should be reformulated so it'll be kinder to clothes.

It sounds as if it's the reincarnation of the dreaded Persil Power lol.

That's one thing I won't be using for a while yet.

I'd say back to the drawing board!

Tesco's Naturally Dishwasher Tablets

I can confirm that they overfoam in a Bosch dishwasher - it happened to my Logixx Automatic.

The load was sufficiently greasy (grill pan, etc), but still the tablet foamed up! So much so, that the spray arm diverter valve was in a quandary as to what it should do.

After a couple of days using this rubbish, I used the rest of the box to cleanse the washing machine!

I think the detergent was made in Denmark, so you would have thought that the detergent would be of high quality; obviously not.

I tried the Bio laundry powder almost a year ago now, and it seemed okay: smelled of coconut; whites came out ok. I don't think I tried it on coloureds.
