you know, i was selling vacuums for a while on ebay, and only once was there slight damage, easily repaired. i often used newspaper as packing material, but LOTS of it, tightly wadded. i swear, i prolly used two or three entire newspapers just to ship a convertible. look at the link for this Hoover that was just sold. i hope that seller pays special attention to the back wheels and handle fork. i too am SICK of ebay sellers who shouldnt be selling in the first place.

FARBERWARE 48 CUP SS COFFEE POT

HII bought a Farberware 48 cup stainless steel coffee potBrand new. The seller just put it in a box to ship no packing. The plastic pour spout was completly broken off.
 
$34.95 for a drink machine that won't run-a good reason to stay away-yes it may be repairable-the seller dosen't seem to know whats wrong with it.Could be a simple thing-like a bad plug or cord-or the worst-- a blown motor.
 
Yes, I know it does not run, but since Versatronic needs a part for his damaged unit, it would seem like a good idea to take that one and get what he needs. This is unless you or anyone else has a handy source for vintage Oster mixer/milkshake maker parts.

I would think a replacement switch could be bought locally for less the $35 at an electronic parts store or at Lowes-When I looked there-they had a surprizing selection of switches-they may have one that could fit his mixer.And if the unit doesn't work---the switch just could be bad.Its a risk.And you hope the switch on the second unit"The Hanger Queen" doesn't get broken during shipment.A switch is generaly a generic part.

Mark, when you tell a seller how to pack, and they don't, and you give them negative feedback, doesn't the seller automatically give you negative feedback? And if it's broken and you respond with negative feedback and a nasty letter, doesn't that end your changes of getting a refund?

I have the same urge to leave negative feedback for these morons, but doesn't that just lead to the seller giving you automatic retalitory negative feedback and washing their hands of you?

The feedback system on eBay is a joke and always was. No seller will leave feedback for me until I do for him/her. It's no different than blackmail. If they wanted to do it right, it would be a requirement that a seller leaves feedback for the buyer by answering a questionaire. Did the buyer pay you in a timely manner? Yes, then it is positive feedback. Then the buyer has the option of posting any feedback he/she wants to. Buyers will be fair, giving the feedback the seller truly deserves. It's so simple. And then the feedback rating of a seller would be meaningful.

Look closely at the second picture. It is very close to a turquoise color, far from a jadeite color. Yeah, the first picture seems to give off a more greenish tint than the unit has in real life, but the second picture shows the actual color.

I usually try to give the seller the benefit of the doubt and give them every opportunity to do the right thing if there was deficiency in their packing/shipping that caused the damage. If they don't, they get negative feedback. I have a note on my computer right now to leave feedback for a seller of a Mixmaster that was just a *itch about the whole transaction. You can leave feedback for 90 days after the transaction has ended so I wait until the end of that last day - preferably within the last few minutes and slam the negative on them. Before they realize what happened and can leave it for me, it's too late.

I think we should start a Feedback Sniper service that will do this automatically for jilted buyers! There might be a change in attitude from some of these sellers then...

I had bought three sets of Hotpoint (surprise) baking elements for my wall oven and two out of three times they came damaged. First time the element came all bent up and packaged in a flimsy box with just a small wad of newspaper stuffed in. I was able to bend it back into shape but the second time one of the prong connectors was snapped right off. I will be able to tack weld it back on but it's not the point. I complained to the guy but it's the same story, "I have been in this business for yada yada years and I'm experienced and never had a problem yada yada yada". I wanted to tell this guy to shove his expertise up his arse but what good would it do? Some people just DO NOT GET IT !!!!!! I hope something can be done about this.

When shipping large items, I usually cut pieces of carpet padding to buffer the goods. I have never yet had a damaged item.
You could go to the shipping company who shipped the mixer to you and get a statement from them that the item was improperly shipped and send that along with the broken mixer back to the seller demanding a refund. Get a delivery confirmation and send a copy of both to PayPal. That should get a refund out of them.

I once had a seller ship me a SAE Power Amp (about 40lbs). He just dropped it in a beat up cardboard box with no padding, paper, nothing at all and shipped it USPS. Only by the grace of God did it arrive here undamaged. He still got negative feedback from me due to his carelessness in shipping. It astounds me how stupid some of these sellers are!
