Ooooh!! Me!! I know!!

I bet it came from a coastal state...

I think Fred is on the right track.

You can't put just anything in a Kirby box. It has to be something special.

now i know too. i think there is some TRIPlE ACTION capabilities in that box. does this *hellen lawson* dame i hear about have anything to do with this box?

That Helen....

She's a generous spirit too!
Gee Austin, what could be in that box thats colored shades of Jade?

Ok...here you go!

A 1958 Hoover Convertible Special Model 31 that I purchased from Charlie (is this the Helen Lawson you're referring to?) through the club!! Everything is in great shape and it runs beautifully. It is also a green-base model which I was told is an early Model 31 and is harder to find than with the white base. It is also my first 2-position Convertible; Jeff, when you said they groom the rug much better than the later 4-positions you weren't kidding!!! The first time in a while I noticed the "vacuuming marks" on my rug!! WOOHOO!!

Thanks again Charlie!!

And my favorite feature of the 31...

The HANDLE-BAIL SWITCH! It's just fun to step on the switch and hear the trademark Convertible motor come to life.

Pete-

The 31 was the only convertible with the switch on the handle bale. All later ones had the switch by the upper handle. I believe some commercial Hoovers had this type of switch as well.

very nice, and not badly warped. lets talk about the bag, it doesnt seem to have enough holes in it. doesnt seem to breathe as well as it should. thats how mine is anyway. but still a LOVELY Convertible, and my favorite Convertible hood shape too!
