I'm speechless! For that price-----restored speakers no less not in original condition--- SPEECHLESS!

What is Glenn Ford coming back to life to deliver them himself!

Great looking speakers, but------

SPEECHLESS!

The Paragon is a neat system and pretty rare in today's world. I have always been a JBL fan and it would be cool to have one of these for nostalgia sake. But this price is well high from typical sales price.

Speaker technology has improved a lot in 40+ years (provided you buy something good). For $75k you could buy a FAR better listening experience.

JBL also made a slightly smaller version..

called "Metrogon" ... these are all highly sought after, particularly in the Asian market. They don't usually command that kind of price though, typically 10-15K in one's I've seen. Maybe the market is heating up again, though don't know why it would be.

Beautiful Cabinets

But my 61 year old ears dont hear but so good,Id prefer my 1935 Capehart with the 2 big 15 inch speakers, one is a treble and the other a bass.Id spend that kind of money on a nicely restored old Chrysler conv.A 1956 New Yorker.Let the wind whistle in my ears.Does this person really think someone spend that in any economy?

For those who think 74 grand is chump change-here are the Hi-Fi speakers for you!!Hope you have 600 grand lying around in the change jar and LOTS of room and a forklift! Can't get the link to work--look up Magico "Ultimate" speaker system-you will get the idea!

The Paragon design lasted a decade. Designer Wolf also designed the 'most popular speaker of the 70s' the L-100 (I just sold a pair, music is against rules in this retirement gulag).

But what you REALLY want, newer and cheaper, are these, 4350Bs. The ones I heard were fully built. See the blank panels? Those optionally duplicate the high and mid drivers. If you ever wanted Hendrix inside your head, here he is.

LOL, "Hendrix inside you head"

I almost got evicted from my first apartment with M. Ward's speakers, courtesy of "Ms. Thelma Houston".

Awesome!

When I was lad way in 1977 I heard this speaker system in Laskys (a then big hifi retailer) they were playing Donna Summer Love to Love you baby on a Dual 701/V15 turntable into a Sansui 9090 tuner amp and into this system, it was jaw dropping the volume firstly and the quality absolutely amazing a very very serious piece of kit.
A work of art to me

Don't get me started on 70s disco classics :-)

Seen the fully outfitted JBL 4350's used as recording studio monitor speakers.Westlake Audio are considered the best speakers for recording.
Something to note about both JBL and Altec-they are now having their drivers and driver parts made in China and Mexico-so their quality is going down. For instance-would take a JBL Paragon with ORIGINAL USA drivers over one with replacement drivers made in China or Mexico. On the "Film Tech" website they mention about this-and the Chinese and Mexican drivers failing more often and sounding WORSE than the US made ones.So BEWARE!!!The Paragon did have what would now be considred the "pro" grade speaker elements in them. For home Hi-Fi use they would lead pretty easy lives as opposed to "pro" audio used in theaters or sound reinforcement systems. Most of the Altec and JBL non pro and some pro things today are JUNK!!!SAD!!!Both companies went down after Harmon International took them over. You could say Harmon is to audio gear as what WCI is to appliances.So--the vintage Altec and JBL gear IS THE BEST!
