Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Reason Machine

Best washer ever made? Probably needs some time in the field before one can attach that lofty accolade.

It is a cool concept, a toploading, front-loading verical axis machine that appears to fit in a dishwasher space.
My mother would probably load the tub with dishes and silver if I put one in the kitchen, thinking this was the new way to do dishes, since she thinks dishwashers are ultramodern unessesary appliances, and foriegn territory, except for Thanksgiving at someone else's fancy house when she tries to help out.

It does look like a freeking dishwasher, though. I wonder what the capacity is? I suppose a window is impossible, you would only see the end of the tub barrel.

Probably good for testing in European markets where people are used to undercounter stuff.

I wonder what the capacity is?
I wonder why the clothes looked dry that the demo guy took out?
I wonder if I would like the machine better if the demo guy washed ALL of his clothes and was naked?

These are some serious questions I have about it.

It looks flimsy.

The idea of storing water in a ballast tank is quite clever, though. It pre-warms the water to room temp, provided one doesn't do a bunch of washes back to back.

Don't know about the cold water (15C) washing though. Kind of yucky.

It still looks flimsy.

Do you put the wet wash into a convection wall oven to dry?

Did I say it looks flimsy?

Probably a nightmare to service, as well, since you'd have to pull the entire unit out of its cubby to get to the guts of the thing, or see it operate.

Had to laugh at the logic: "You are used to liquid softener, so why not liquid detergent?". Obvious answer: powder detergents and hot water are needed to get really dirty clothes clean. This makes me wonder if this washer is a poor wash performer to begin with. Where are the European performance ratings?

Even though it looks flimsy, there's that 10 year warranty. Can't remember when I last saw a Reason washer repairman in my neighborhood, though. And anyone want to take bets on how long the Reason company will be around? Is 10 months close enough?

Flimsy.
