I like how the motor controller board is mounted directly on top of the motor.

Thank you! Looks like the new-technology GE top-loader I had bought a few years ago. (Mine was NOT A hydro-wave).
I don't recall my older model having the electronics just above the motor.

Hey, esteguy, how high are the water levels in that GE? I just got a GE WPRE6150HWT and even at "Super" the water level leaves 4 rows of holes, or about 4 inches dry. I can't figure out whether this is by design, or I have a defective unit. I called GE and, unsurprisingly, they were completely, completely unhelpful. The Hotpoint certainly seems to fill higher.

Super level, which is the maximum setting, is 1/4" below the 2nd hole down from the top on mine, so I'd say you're way too low for sure.

My model is WPRE8100G0WT, and its NOT Energy Star rated, so you may have hit upon something there. This model is no longer for sale, and the only model I see that is comparable is a 6100, that also is not ES rated. I'll be looking for that in the future. First they mess up the temperature by eliminating a full hot water wash, now they want to limit how full the tub fills. Everytime I go to Lowes there are fewer top loaders out on the floor. I guess if you don't mind paying $2000 to $3500 for a front load W/D set with pedestals, go for it. Two empty sheetmetal pedestals cost as much as a top load washer does. I'll never understand why they charge so much for those things.

The board above the motor is the interface control for the Variable speed motor.
We had a washer come back into the store that did not work.. I did the trouble shooting on it, and the board was not getting any info.
A&E Tech came out, and he couldn't figure it out as well. He end up calling GE and end up being this super small in line fuse that could not be seen!
