Jason, didn't you get that nice 1950 Westy range from Mark? Are you just waiting until you go retro with the kitchen to install it?

Cute house.

Ranch-style houses are my favorite, and I grew up in one. I bought a multi-level (4, to be exact) six years ago, and although there are aspects of it I enjoy, it's a nightmare of steps up & down, every way you turn. And me with a bum knee. But, enough about that. Love how much light you have streaming in your dining area.

Jason, that is the very same dishwasher that I had for 20 years. When I left Danville I left it of course. It needed a new water valve as it didn't fill with enough water. Are you pleased with the machine. Looks like a very comfortable home! Congratulations to both you and Hellen.

Jason & Helen,

I love the kitchen flooring, it is definitely from the same era as ours. We had a MOL 70's GE dw in our house when we bought it 10yrs. ago, great machine. I like the open floor plan alot. Is it built on a slab, or does it have a basement?

awesome house and wow it still looks retro! my dad has an under-the-sink ge potscrubber dishwasher from 1992, but the house was built in 1971 and the living room still has itz 70's look.

Jason-

Thank you for the pictures. I have always enjoyed that particular model of GE dishwasher, for the sheer entertainment value of the dial indicator.

Also, thank you for posting again.

Jason, yup that's my old dishwasher I loved completely until I got the Kenmore Elite TT. I believe yours is more toward the end of the product life cycle than my 1986 version. On mine, your Heavy Soil button was the equivalent of my Normal Soil button. Your Normal Soil Button was labeled Light Soil on mine. All other button names are identical. I extremely rarely used my Normal (your Heavy) Soil cycle--it used the same amount of water as PotScrubber cycle and I always thought, if I needed that many water exchanges, then I might as well PotScrubber. I always said, my Light Soil cycle was the equivalent of everyone else's Normal Soil cycles at the time. I pretty much oinly used Light (your Normal) or Potscrubber cycles. Very rarely any other cycles. I would use Energy Saver cycle if stuff had pretty much accumulated only for one day and hadn't had much time to harden onto surfaces, or if I'd done a bunch of moderate cooking that wasn't too starchy. It's a 36 minute cycle before it starts dry cycle. And yes, if the water valve has sediment in it, it isn't gonna fill properly. Mine always kicked butt, extremely rarely ever had a cleaning problem. Always had my water heater set at 120. My Kenmore Elite TT actually dries better than the GE did. The only time results would be considered equal, is when I used PotScrubber cycle.

Jason, love your house. Both inside and out.

love your porch, the 70s carpet, the flowered 3 piece suite, the kitchen cabs, the pale yellow kitchen, the cats, the cat tents(w/ connector), your French inspired console stereo, your spindled counter stools, your bun footed china cabinet, and of course, the GE 1200 Potscrubber with Auto-advance timer.

The upper kitchen cabinets seem to be installed about 4 to 6 inches taller than one might expect. Am I wrong here? And the kitchen light seems 'bump your head' low. am I seeing that wrong?

It is a beautiful house and Thanks for sharing. I have heard that Tennessee is some beautiful country side.

Lucky Helen and You. Take Care.

Jason,
Your house is great!
Love the cat!
Always liked the GE Dishwasher you have. Never had one, but everyone that I knew that had one, or still has one running, thinks the world of them. (Thanks Bob for your post. I forgot you had one for a long time. Love the cycle sequence talk!)
Glad that you and your wife and animals are settling in.
Great Pictures.

Nice house.....that GE dishwasher is very nice. I had a Kenmore version of it in the mid 80's and loved it. That upper rack is very flexible the center row of tines...with the short tines in the back was for bowls. I was always amazed at how much that rack would hold. The lower rack held alot as well. I used to load the plates in the back left area and on the right was where the pots and pans went. I did use the saucer shelf. Loved the MultiOrbit wash arm. And thats one design I wish they brought back. That wash system was very effective. The Kenmore called the arm an Eliptical arm...changing positions of the jets with each pass. It amazed me with just 13 total jets how well it could get a big nasty load so clean. Plus even with its small motor it had plenty of power to spare. Thats a keeper.

A $93,000 dishwasher LOL!

Wow, so the DW's a hit, eh? Well, it works perfectly and cleans well. My only complaint is it doesn't dry the top rack all that well. I love the pushbutton starting and the relaxing noises.

Washertalk, you're correct. The top cabinets are WAY too high. Believe it or not, those are brand new light fixtures and they won't bump your head (unless you're really tall and they are adjustable. The original light fixtures were UGLY so I went down to Lowe's and got those.

Unfortunately, Helen hates the color of those cabinets so a remodel (OMG) is in the future... UNDER THE CONDITION that the cabinets are traditional style and can somewhat keep the 1970s feel in the kitchen. There were light colored cabinets in the 70s so that's what we're going far. And the DW stays as long as I can keep it working.

Looks like 30" long cabinets, which are meant to be at a 7 foot height from the floor, or 1 foot from a standard 8 foot ceiling. (Usually, in the old days, under a false 1 foot soffit).

Uppers replaced with 42's (length), mounted at the smae height should do the trick.

Cat

That's Jasper, the Jukebox Cat sitting in the MIDDLE of it all cleaning and scratching hisself. He was licking his ass prior but I didn't want to make this a PG-rated thread LOL.

Nice home Jason, and just the style that you wanted. 1970's. Congratulations, and thank you for sharing!
