THE MAYTAG 806 HAS ARRIVED

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

The washer spins out completely between pre-wash and soak. Some savvy users would start the washer with powder detergent in the prewash, then fill the softener dispenser with liquid detergent for the main wash. At the house I stayed at for the summer of 1976, Tide went into the pre-wash and Era (remember the big orange bottle with the pump on top?) into the dispenser for the main wash.

(and we didn't itch)

Congrats on your new beauty!

Yeah, it drains after pre-wash. Frigilux, you bet it looks like your Frigidaire... it's the matching Kenmore dryer to our deceased FriGEmore.

THe drain has been roto-rootered many a time before... when the sink drains it overflows up through the floor drain.. not much I can do about it, except make sink drain slowly, which works just fine. And I did move the power chord, and even though it looks like I'm standing on it, I'm actually standing on pvc pipe.

Here's the the video of the first washload, you'll have to pardon my friend

a little advice....

...but first of all, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
Jed,
Move that washer as far away from that gas water heater as you can get it. Being that close will encourage rust!
Get your drain line cleaned out so that it can take the draining water. Maytag has always had great pumps that move LOTS of water. You have one of the finest machines made and it's in great condition, so take care of it, and it will most likely last as long as you do! Once again, CONGRATULATIONS!!! Mark Lightedcontrols

Pre Soak Cycle

I have the same 806 but in white. On the dial there is a prewash but there is also a soak before the regular cycle. This gives you 10 min of soak time before moving into the cycle. It is perfect as it does not drain out the water prior to advancing. I have a question about the dispensing of bleach can anyone explain how it works?

Bleach Dispenser

Yeah, I would also like to know how the bleach dispenser works.. it looks like there is a hose attached to the pump... maybe to provide suction to mix things up?? I don't know

As the tub is filling some of the water in the tub goes into the bleach injector thru the tub to injector hose

When the motor starts the pump sucks out some of the bleach and water solution

It goes thru the bleach injector hose thru the punp thru the big pump to tub hose and into the bottom of the tub

the pump also sucks more water into the bleach injector thru the tub to bleach injector hose

When the washer spins out the water the pump drains out the bleach injector tank

That makes it self cleaning

It also with the bleach injector to pump hose looped around the tub to bleach injector hose it prevents the bleach from going into the tub too soon so as to give the detergent time to work

It also is a unusual time bleach dispenser
