Only heard of this earlier today so was perusing through some Youtube video's and found this one to be the most informative if not a bit lengthy but worth watching.  Certainly not worth the price , as she comments as well, considering even here in Canada you buy a Classic for around $200 - $240 cdn and the Ultra Power etc for less than $300 at many stores.

That Flat Beater is Junk.

I liked the Video. She did give the machine fair tests. I compare the actions with the Hobarts I have used commercially my whole life. Planetary Action is Planetary.

The design of the Paddle and the Dough Hook definitely needs to go back to the original design.

To me this is without a doubt falls into the "Looks are deceiving."

The average person who does a minimal amount of baking and wants a KA mixer I think would say "Oh look... A cute little KitchenAid. I have to have that. It's the perfect size".

I say... "They just don't make things like they used to". I really wish Hobart kept the KitchenAid Line and kept building quality.

And yes, I know they woukd have to charge a fortune and would lose money because Hobart at one point did not believe in "Planned Obsolescence".

Let's see... with inflation, just my $1.27 worth

I saw it on an info-

mercial this morning. They were selling the large and small Artisan for the same price.
I looked at one at Target, and the box said imported.
They say it has the same power as the large model per it's capacity. Fine for small batches. I think they had kids in mind.
They showed a new Spiralizer attachment to peel and make stringy veggies.

The videos was interesting-think the larger KA mixers are the better buy, tooJust make room for it.The Mini would most likely be good for batters and light stuff.Think the thing is too small for kneading. And the smells-could be that it is a brand new machine-New ones emit funny smells during the first times of use.If it continues-then the mixer is being overloaded or there is a problem.Like others think the flat beater and dough hook need to be redone. The post and additional spokes in the center of the beaters blades would make a difference. The whisk did OK.

Interesting, but I suppose one could save quite a lot of money and get a much better machine (that even kneads two loaves of bread) if one gets a Bosch Compact Mixer.

I gave one to my parents and they love it. Light, small and powerful.

PRC---another good reason to buy the KA mixers made in Greenville,Ohio!!Those work better anyway-esp from seeing the review video. You would think if the mixer was smaller and built in China--the price would be cheaper than the full sized US models.

I wonder if the burnished flat beater from an older 3-quart KA mixer would work in the mini model.  The flat beater that comes with the mini is entirely useless.  I quit watching the video after seeing the "crater" in the batter.  What a joke.

Let's be honest about one thing. This mixer will work just fine for sitting on the counter to look impressive in one of those seldom actually used, mostly for show $50K dream kitchens in McMansions.

Here Here Lord Kenmore.

$50,000 kitchen. The most used appliances... Microwave and the Dishwasher for washing glasses and flatware. (Because of all the Take Out that is brought home.)

I remember doing a catering job back in the 90s when McMansions were popping up everywhere. The home owner showed us around the kitchen and told us she never turned the Thermador wall oven on and then told us to throw all the Chinese takeout and Styrofoam to go boxes out of the Sub Zero. Then proceeded to show us the second dishwasher that still had the styrofoam packing and all the labels and tags still in it. She said she "I think it's hooked up but I'm not sure".

Zheeeeeesh !!!

McMansion cooks-Why bother with a kitchen and appliances-they get the take-outs!Looked on the KA website they insist that the Artisan Mini is built in the US with the other KA mixers-BUT the reviews on the site show folks not happy with the machine-guess KA has to go back to the planning board for that one!!Reviewers complain about the poor design flat paddle beater and the whip that can't go into the dishwasher.Well-if this thing is going to be in a McMansion kitchen-would all of that matter? If I get the mixer-want it to WORK like their others!A working McMansion kitchen-one that someone would really COOK in should have a Hobart commercial bench mixer.

"McMansion"

From all McDonalds restaurants look alike. A tract home of over 2,000 square feet. Cheaply built of only a half brick exterior, but with nice aesthetics. Usually low end builder spec interior fixtures.
Upgrades to make them premium quality homes run the cost up to a custom built home.
You may save the architectural design costs, or not.
Builders get special pricing on fixtures and appliances, then mark them up at a high profit.
You can order premium plumbing fixtures through a dealer at a 30% discount from msrp list price.
I've done a couple of home renovations. Not flips, my own houses.
