In between working 40 hours a day and everything else going on, I managed to find some time to finish a project I've been wanting to do for five years - get hot & cold water and drain in the garage for a proper washer connection. I got the connections all done last night and today, I started work on (and finished!) the solid-tub Speed Queen set I brought home a couple of months ago.

Here are the connections for water and drain -

Here is the set of early 70's Speed Queens you may remember from a couple of months ago. I worked on them both today and got them done. I'll snap some pics of the washer running tomorrow as I'm letting the silicone sealant cure fully before subjecting it to water, detergent and paparazzi!

The washer a little closer. It's a MOL model, in pretty good shape for it's age but a bit rough around the edges.

Do you see the dark spots on the top near the panel in the center? That is so typical of these machines. The underside of the machine top begins to rust and corrode around the fill-flume and it eventually eats it way through the porcelain. This condition is only made worse by hard water. When I first ran the machine after I got it home, water would blurb out of the little holes in the top! The white dots you see are silicone that I used to seal the rusty spots from underneath.

ugh, with the green

These will be fun machines to play with, I won't keep them as a permanent part of my collection (I don't have enough room and have some much more interesting machines in the wings) but I've always wanted a dryer just like my aunt had - and this is it, with the matching washer.

Very nice

I always thought it was so nice the way they aerated the water. Wonder if anyone besides SQ ever had that feature? Greg they are nice. arthur
