Lotto loot. Thanks for posting, first time I've seen a Food-a-Rama in such overall great condition,minus the area near the butter dish. Now for 13,000.00 smackers, how about nothing wrong at all and 100% perfect? So, maybe I'm wrong, but the price could be more realistic. What are they trying to finance, a second mortgage?

It is absolutely beautiful, but not worth $13K.  But one of in the best condition I think  I've ever seen.

That damage to the inside door is significant. I dunno...the styling on it looks like it would be more appropriate to be installed in a morgue somewhere. But that is one clean Food O Rama!

Because....

....Of the hand-written labels on the back, I'm going to venture a guess that this fridge was not production, but a specially-made unit for some use like trade shows or publicity photos, maybe a prototype or test run.

If one of those possibilities is the case, who knows what it's "worth?" Maybe it's not worth $13K to anyone here, but there are people out there with deeper pockets than most of us on AW can imagine. And some of them love rare midcentury stuff.

The major drawback I see is that broken liner on the refrigerator door. It's going to take a donor unit to resolve that properly.

I dunno, to me it looks like the original label was in poor shape, or falling apart, and someone hand wrote a note.

That thing looks like an oversized finger print magnet. Unlike so many used stainless refrigerators for sale, I'm surprised it's not dented, but then it looks like it's bulletproof too.

OTOH, manufacturers were known to produce "one-offs" for publicity-making purposes. Lincoln made a couple of stainless Continentals for that reason in the '60s. Allegheny Ludlum handled the fabrication of the bodies. There was no serious intent to produce stainless Lincolns - it was just to get attention for the brand.

Both a 1966 and 1967 convertible were made; both survive. The '66 is shown below; you can see the major drawback of a stainless body - dents are not easily removed.

It looks Dated!

Even for 1956,it looks dated,like it should be 1950.Even the inside,all of the rounded corners.Im sure it was was expensive.Hotpoint made a much better looking built-in that was stainless of course not a 2door I dont think? I worked in a ladys house built in 56,all of the Hotpoint appliances were still in use and I asked her about the built in fridge,she said it was expensive at the time but never spent a dime on it for repairs.

And ask me how I know about SS! SS is a fingerprint magnet as well as a dog slobber magnet and even a shadow magnet!

One night I was in the kitchen with just the range light on and the refrigerator looked like it had a few spots on it. I walked up to it and it looked like the SS was discolored. Closer examination showed that the discoloration was just shadows from pots hanging from the pot rack over the island in the middle of the room! Turned on the main overhead light and all the "discoloration" disappeared!

The morgue comment. Something about being curvy and the handles, I imagine a body could be rolled out of it at any given moment.
