the correct water charge is at the top of the JetClean module

fills and then pause before the wash starts

wonder if i should close the water valve or leave it alone

And should I not use the heated dry function to keep the racks from deteriorating further

Tight now I turn on the wash and dry function so I get hot water in the DW
But turn it off so i do not wreck the racks any more than they are now

At the very least, I would open the dishwasher door and let any remaining moisture escape at the end of a cycle. Letting racks sit in the moisture laden environment any longer than they have to be, would only accelerate potential rust in small hairline cracks/imperfections in the rack's coating.

The racks are quite warm when the cycle terminates. The residual heat should expel any moisture trapped in scoring in the rack's coating.

I personally always use heat for drying, but that is just my preference. Do what you think is right. If you ever see any small pinpoint rust spots beginning, you can always switch to heated drying. If you don't opt for heated drying just open the door slightly after the cycle and I think you will be fine.[this post was last edited: 5/28/2024-19:28]

Love my Maytag Jetclean dishwashers. Even though I have a renovated kitchen with a new KitchenAid dishwasher, my Maytags are not far away!!

Hey Barry,
When I was in high school in 1979 we got a WC700. It was still in the house when they sold it in 2019. Since then I've owned a WU482 and a Jenn-Air version of the TOL model with the vacuum fluorescent display. But my favorite is the WC401 which I purchased used for $36 on CL. Thanks for asking.
