Can a house divided against itself long stand?
I do believe Mr. Lincoln asked this same question.
My belief is that we are not truely divided. The proof has been shown over and over again in our history. Two examples, Pearl Harbor and 9/11.
The day after Pearl Harbor "Rather than crushing American morale, as the Japanese had hoped, the attack on Pearl Harbor united the country behind Roosevelt and the war. The sneak attack ignited American determination to go to war.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt signs the declaration of war against Japan, December 8, 1941.
On December 8, 1941, the day after the attack, President Roosevelt gave his famous Pearl Harbor Speech to Congress. Following the speech, the Senate and the House voted almost unanimously to declare war on Japan. Only three days later, Germany and Italy declared war on the United States. Now the U.S. needed to be ready for a two-front war, in the Pacific and in Europe."

The day after 9-11 which would be for those literalist 9-12. Congress and the Supreme Court stood on the steps of The House united. There were no Democrats, no Republicans, no Independents that day--they stood as Americans.
This is the difference between Ant hills and America. We go about our lives trying to survive the best we can on our own. But let something threaten our way of life not matter how dismal, and we are United.
NO I am not a Republican, nor am I a Socialist.
