"....suggestions to remove Wax from the sump ?"

Obtain a heat gun or hair dryer and a roll of paper towels.
Aim the gun at the offending wax, when some melts, blot it with a un-used section of paper towel until it's clean.

As far as removing the artificial-trailer-trash scent, I'd put vinegar in a spray bottle or garden sprayer. Spray the entire machine (avoiding sensitive graphics and painted areas). Shake a layer of baking soda on these damp areas, then spray with vinegar again, creating a paste. Let the machine set covered in the goo over night.
Next day simply wash off with a soapy (dish soap) sponge, like you're washing a car.
This unlocks the scent. Once dry expect the smell to completely evaporate after a few days.

Good luck.

I'm needing to do general clean up with my new baby, a KDC-21AD. It apparently works fine and has all it's bits, but has hard water build up.

Real

Dishwashers that use real water to clean your dishes CLEAN and DRY them DRY in about an hour........A Real concept considering the so called dishwashers you buy today, use NO water run 2 to 3 hours and the dishes are not nearly as clean...HMMMM!!!!I wonder which is cheaper...3 hours of electricity or 15 gallons of water......My wager would be water is cheaper than power!!!!

hans

you left out the part about the 1 year warranty and the 2-3 year longevity which means whatever micro savings in energy is eaten up in repair/replace.
