Oh You Remeber The Awful Things They Said About What's H

See? I can't even remember her name, so who cares Edith?

Unless Mr. Spitzer arranges some sort of plea deals, and or the various investigations stop, this sad, sorry and now quite sorrid story is going to play out for months. There will be charges, hearings, trials, and everything else.

Well if nothing else will give one something to talk about at the beginning and most importantly the end of the summer season. Usually by the later everyone has pretty much said all they have to say to each other, and at the former it is all one can do to find anything to say to anyone after inquiring about the house, home, children, and spouse.

My paws and whiskers, Cimberlie,

There's nothing like looking on the bright side.
I'll say it again, nobody, but nobody can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory as well as the Democrats can.

I hope to hell you are wrong, but you're nearly always right.

It is interesting to note how little is being said about the poor woman who also got 'busted' by the Feds...Spitzer, at worst, will come out of this a millionaire whose worst punishment will be knowing winks from "the boys". She, on the other hand, now has to fear retribution from everybody, including the mob.

I won't say it in French this time, but it is still true:
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

"That woman made me do it!" Has echoed down the halls of history since Adam and Eve. Or was it Lilleth?

Gov. Spitzer to resign ~

MSNBC has reported that Gov. Eliot Spitzer will resign this morning at 11am. Maybe Bill Clinton could run for governor down the road? I bet he would win in a landslide!

Eugene, I thought the maxim was "powerlessness corrupts." This rang true for me long ago when I was a customer service rep teathered to a desk by my headset cord.

Regarding the topic of discussion here, we see it in political and religious leadership all the time. Those who are attacking certain types of behaviors are usually doing so in an attempt to deflect from themselves, as they are actually the worst violators of their own supposed ideals.

Politicians have never, ever been a trustworthy lot in general. It's just gotten way worse over the years.

Launderess~

Yes, I agree with you. It is VERY sad that Spitzer's once bright career ended in disgrace. Especially sad for the Gay community since Spitzer supported same sex marriage and vowed to see it legalized in NYS. Not many politicians, especially in a liberal state like NY, would show that kind of courage. Let's not forget he did do some good things as Governor even though his time in office was short.

I hope he gets the help he needs to rebuild his life and marriage. Poor Silda, my heart breaks everytime I look at her. You can see the devastation in her face.
Such a damn shame...

The Tri -State Area

of NY,NJ and CT have all seen their governors resign amid scandal.

Gov. John G Rowland (R) of CT in 2004. He was convicted and sentenced to prison for mail and tax fraud.

Gov. Jim McGreevey (D) of NJ in 2004. He resigned after admitting an affair with a male staffer. News outlets have reported that McGreevey was seeking custody of his daughter Jacqueline from his soon to be ex- wife. This guy has no morals whatsoever!

Gov. Eliot Spitzer (D) of NY in 2008. Well, we all know that outcome.

Hopefully this puts an end to the Tri State Area's bad luck in choosing governors.

Oh, Please...Like the Republican Party is stand bearer for what is moral and just. They have lost ALL credibility with the American public as a whole."

Shane: Having no credibility never stopped Republicans from casting the first stone- you know that, c'mon. ;-)

What I'm looking for this election is politicians who have the sense and the decency to take matters in hand when they're lonely, instead of hitting on staffers, hookers, and kids. Both parties, all sexual persuasions, period. Cheating on spouses is skeevy (rhymes with McGreevey).

My main beef with McGreevey, no pun intended, was that he was about to be busted for corrupt political/business dealings.

When he realized the authorities were about to swoop in, he chose THAT moment to become a high-profile "gay American" and resign, which pretty much ensured that he would evade accountability for any malfeasance in a state not known for aggressively going after such violations to begin with.

He used his gayness as a wedge issue and a bulwark against truth much the way the right uses gay identity and gay-affirmative issues like marriage equality as a wedge issue as a bulwark and a smokescreen against dealing with the truth regarding the issues taxpaying Americans really care about.

I believe that, ultimately, all Americans suffer because of these cynical, manipulative tactics, and it really gets me down sometimes.
