Thoughts on Optical Brightners

Was looking at a list of detergents than contain O.Bs and ones that don't..

I realize that O.Bs my not be suitable for laundering colors and darks, but...they do make whites appear whiter, and I realize that with discontinued use the O.Bs eventually wear off the fabric.
But what about those who still rinse in warm water?
In other words, when laundering with a detergent that contains O.Bs..do they stick better to the fabric when rinsed in clold vs rinsed in warm? Or are they engineered to embed to the fabric regardless of wash or rinse temps?

If you can get a black light (Home Depot used to sell such bulbs) you could set up a little test with swatches of white fabric. Wash all with OB's. Then rinse some warm, some cold. Check for fluorescence with the black light after each wash/rinse cycle. It might take a while. So I'm not gonna do it myself.

With some optical brightners-you can see their effects with sunlight or flourescent light.If you don't want the OB,go to an outdoor-sporting goods place and get OB,odor free detergents used for cleaning hunters clothing.Deer and other animals can smell,(fragrances) and see the OB's instantly alerting them.

Was under

the impression that All Free and Clear didn't include O.Bs, but after phoning, found out that they do in fact include them. They do make a version that dose not, but is only sold to military compounds, and commissary's. Didn't ask about sporting good store.
