Three generations Braun blenders

I noticed that Braun had put a new blender on the market and since I recently had problems with three of my blenders I thought it was time to buy the new model. It arrived today and I thought it was a good idea to make a picture of the three generations Braun blenders I have. Unfortunately the middle one is not working good anymore, it makes a horrid high pitched noise. I bought it used (almost new), but I think the previous owners already had issues with it. It worked fine for a while, but now I'm done with it. Anyway, here's the picture. And the link goes to the new blender on Braun's website.

Neat how they're going back to the original design look. How is the new one for noise? I was surprised at how quiet the old ones are even on highspeed it's not annoying at all. Probably the quietest blender I've heard so far and I've heard a lot of them. I'm using it quite regularly right now for my protein shakes.

I have two like the blender on the left (well, one is a stand-alone and the other part of a Kitchen Machine)!  I love those blenders and to quote a former neighbour who made me want one 'This thing? Feh! You can purée rocks in it!' 

 

For the middle blender, does the high-pitched noise occur when the jar is off the blender as well?  I've had a couple of vintage Osterizers that 'screeched' due to bad blade drives and wondered if maybe this was the cause...

I've noticed that the original version jar (the one on the left) really froths up my protein shakes to almost double the volume and there's no little bits of unprocessed lumps clinging to the bottom etc which happens with others like the Osters etc. I've never used it for anything else like smoothies or chopping/pureeing veggies etc.

The new one doesn't make a lot of noise either, the middle one was not noisy either when it was still good. I'll give it a test drive tomorrow for a raspberry smoothie.

The older one is rather quiet indeed. The only negative thing about the old model is that it overflows rather fast when you liquidise rather thin liquids. Running it with soapy water is quite a challenge. I usually put a cloth over it and leave the little cup in the middle out.

The screeching (that was the word I was looking for!) is probably caused by the blades. The blender motor alone makes a normal sound. I guess I have to look out for new blades.

So far all Braun blenders have performed well. No unprocessed bits what so ever, so I expect the new one perform the same. The jar and the blades look pretty similar to those the previous model.

BTW, I never have unprocessed bits in my Osterizer. It's one of my best blenders besides the Braun blenders.

Think I have one Braun blender in my collection-its way back in the closet-I am afraid vintage Waring,Oster beats the Braun badly.The Braun machine I have has a RUBBER coupler on both the jar and motor base.Don't see this lasting long-but it is quiet-but so is vintage Oster and Waring with their METAL not plastic or rubber couplers-and more durable.But Blendtecs and VM machines can be the chainsaws in the kitchen-but blend like no other blenders can.and you don't have to put up with the noise long!I am wondering if the Braun blenders sold in other countries are better than the ones sold in the US.They just don't impress me.

Made a smoothie with banana, frozen raspberries, red grapes, juice and vanilla yoghurt. It blended quite well, hardly anything left from the raspberry seeds. I have worse blenders! It makes more noise than I thought, it is not as quiet as the old one.

I had a Waring blender, that was one of the blenders I had to send to the recycling bin. The blades broke (how on earth is it possible with a 300 Watts motor!) and the smoothie I was making ended up in the motor block which caused a few flames coming from the motor. No Waring again!

I'm way happier with my Osterizers though.

Blendtec and Vitamix are very expensive here. I don't like the Blendtec, because you can't really choose the speed yourself as you can with the Vitamix. The Vitamix costs around $950.- here, the Braun blender was about 10% of that. When I win the lottery I will think about buying a Vitamix.

950 for a Vitamix??? WOWOOOO!

 

Stick with the Osters for now. I once saw a 220V chrome vitamix on ebay a long time ago. It was in Australia but it would work in EU.

There are knockoffs here too, but I'm not going to spend my money on those. If I want a Vitamix it's going to be a real one. There are more interesting blenders. This Braun will not be the last one that I buy, I'm pretty sure about that. lol
