Thrifting finds!

I had the day off today and hit a few thrift stores...

I found some pretty nice things! Gary (estatesalegary) tipped me off on the Lewyt (thanks, Gary!)

The haul! These Corning-Ware percolators don't do much for me, but I couldn't leave it sitting there
in it's original box for $4.99...

Kinda dirty... I ran a basket full of dishwasher detergent through a cycle.
That really cleans these well! I need to still pick up some
sponges and give it a good washing. Any tips on how to clean these?

Then I kicked back and sipped a Pepsi from this can cozy!

Nevermind!

After running dishwasher detergent through a cycle on that percolator, it barely needs wiping out! It just sparkles!

Corningware Coffee Pot!

I have the same one. I am having problems with the power cord.
I havent used it in awhile.

As far as I remember,

The Corning Counterange has GM Frigidaire guts. I may be wrong, but I am around 90% certain of GM guts.

I do not post over on vacuum land and the site does not have a "searcholator" I have 2 projects I need to replace a kirby g4 fan that is broken and also a new, big round filter for my water matic canister. can you point me to appropriate threads over there. I have no idea how to get the g4 apart to replace the fan. I appreciate you...arthur alr2903

Hey Fred!

Great bunch of scores, especially the Electromatic Percolator. I have two of them, and a few of the stovetop ones. I have a question though, can you run dishwasher detergent through a stainless unit? It's a GE Peek a Brew from the '70s.

I've never seen an original box for the Corning pot before - how cool!

We had a Coronado branded vacuum almost just like that Lewyt - ours had a dial for suction control but the color scheme was almost the same and the hose-wands-tools were identical. When is that from do you think?

You can also run a cycle of bleach in those Corning Ware percolators. Maybe 1/2 cup and a complete cycle and it should take out any coffee stains. I usually do another cycle with fresh water after the bleach cycle to really clean it.

Greg - I resent that remark! A Keystone Light would be more appropriate with the cigarette burns....

Great finds Fred, you will enjoy the Corning coffeemaker. I would say that the Lewyt is from around 1967-68. Good thing too about the Corning pot is I don't think this model ever had a problem with the handle coming off.

That is the type of range that was in our house when we bought it in 1998. The stovetop was so full of stains that no amount of cleaning would budge them. We replaced it with a Magic Chef gas range.

Frigidaire for sure. Know people who worked at Frigidaire during this time, and this was one of their products. It was made under license from Corning, which provided the cooktop materials. Can't remember if it was made in the downtown Dayton or Moraine plant, which became GM Truck after the sale of Frigidaire.
