Has anyone else seen the new Powdered Fragrance for Tide? I noticed Lavender-scented Tide at Wal-Mart in two different sizes. I picked up the box and smelled it... nice scent.

I am still partial to the American original-scent and the Canadian lemon-scent though.

I also saw the powdered version of Tide with Dawn. I believe that one will be short-lived.

Well, we are in a recession after all. It makes sense to curb our spending on detergents - LOL. I think that is the reason I passed on it as well. I have also seen lavender-scented Gain.

Lemon scent tide?

is there really such a thing? I'd be interested in trying it out.
I have seen Lavender Scent Tide at Wallmart, but haven't bought a box YET..
I like Gain. I used Regular scent, it was alright. I have Island fresh and Spring Lavender scents and am very pleased with them. Island fresh scent is the exactly the same scent as Bold Plus(anyone remember that one?)both Bold plus and Gain Island fresh clean very well in my view.

tide vs gain.

interesting topic.
i was in the supermarket this week, and checked out prices of tide/downy. store was selling downy "special scents" for $9.89. tide prices, which were dominant all over the shelves,in the aisle were expensive- i cant believe the high costs. it makes me angry, and certainly dosent make me want to buy it.
ive been using gain he along with the softner. ive been happy with the cleaning ability, and the scents. it just amazes me that those ither brands can put out their products at those high prices without blinking their eyes..
reminds me of starbucks coffee for 5 dollars a cup...

Don't forget laundry detergents are made from petro-chemicals and thus probably are feeling the same pressure as everyone else. Transportation costs are killing everyone, from grocery stores to consumers as well. Don't want to even think about where petrol prices will be by this summer.

Bold Plus

I tried this recently and while not a fan of highly scented detergents, I like Bold quite a bit. I don't know if it makes clothes much, if any, softer, but towels do smell nice. It isn't well distributed and I wonder how much longer it will be made.

The cleaning power was not really close to being as good as my standbys, powdered Oxydol and Tide with Bleach. I can always add some Biz if necessary, though -- kind of makes you feel more useful than depending on an all in one product, anyway! :)

Bold is the foamiest detergent I've seen in years, btw. It makes Tide seem like a piker. I had the impression that the cationic surfactants in softening detergents would reduce foaming, but apparently not.

Bold

Years ago I had relatives and friends that used Bold w/fabric softener-- I used it myself and it smelled great. One friend in particular used it all of the time and after about 4 months, I said all of your white stuff is grey, he said yeah I know, I just love the smell and the no bounce sheets. I said that all of your light colored stuff is grey. My aunt used it also with bounce sheets everyday in cold water with a Norge washer (that was the best idea ) too, but added bounce sheets, fab sof overload. Come on kids, too much softener means less absorbtion in our towels, we all know that. Wish I could teach my Mom that.

Now that I think of it, I liked the smell of Bold (I don't think I ever saw it again too much later, certainly it's not been around here for years. I can only get Fresh Start in Northern VA at Safeway, and it's been several years so I don't know if it's there any longer. Sears had a huge bucket with FS, I bought one and didn't like the cleaning, the greying and the fact that I couldnt' use it up soon enough so I threw it away. I also felt that I had to use 3 times as much in thier little scoop in a large TL. no smell either. I don't like STRONG smells, but I would like to have SOME SMELL.

I still have plenty of Viva detergent but I may try lavender scented Tide eventually. I can always add some phosphates.
