Time for a Bob Load Thread?

Unless I've missed it, we haven't had a good Bob Load Thread in a while. I've had the KDS-17A as my daily driver for a number of weeks now and I am getting the hang of loading it. I find that I have to run it more often than I did my Boschmore but hey, I see that as a benefit. I love the great sounds that come out of this machine.

A great load... Do the KA dishwashers not have an upper spray arm under the rack, under the ceiling or an impeller on top? How about the cleaning performance on the top rack?

now for more a more unusual dishwasher load:

I have to call this one a "Fred Load" as he's the one who taught me this trick. This is a model 63 Hoover vacuum cleaner. I took it all apart, loaded nearly every part that would fit in the machine and ran it through the full cycle with only STPP, no detergent. Yup, that's the motor in there. It comes out beautifully clean and after a thorough drying time has elapsed, it's ready to reassemble. After a bit of washing, I opened the machine to flip the base of the vacuum over for more directed scrubbing.

Here's another I did a couple of months ago at home. I love having the KDS-14 out in the garage for big meal clean-ups!

WOW Those are some loads!

chris74: the 17 Series Kitchenaid does not have a wash arm under the top rack.  There is a constant rinse arm above the top rack but it seems to be more for making sure the tops of glasses and cups are well cleaned and don't end up with particles deposited in them.

 

I am really amazed at how well the top rack is cleaned provided I don't block it with a large pan or bowl.  It does take a little getting used to but these machines are very powerful and really do a nice job.

Second Machine

gansky: I have my second machine in my utility room off hte kitchen and I use it more than I thought I would. It is nice for those overflow large pots, bowls, etc.

Another Bob Load

At Tarantula Arms.  Not sure if this qualifies, but you can load large items in the bottom of the KDS-17 and it all comes out clean.  Thanks for the memories Greg.  I've used one of these since the 70's and learned how to load them.  I have yet to have anything come out not clean.  And in 45 minutes, no less!

Well, when there is no spray arm under the top rack and only constant rinsing from above: will larger items like bowls and pots in the lower rack not prevent the water from reaching the items in the upper basket? Just wondering why everyone is so satisfied with these old machines... But the full metal spray arm looks indeed very powerful...

Just love that ss Kitchenaid. It was the Cadillac Fleetwood of its day and it looks just as classy today.
