My sister has a Whirlpool TL washer with the wash plate and HATES it....Tangles clothes. long cycle times, etc.

What type TL washer would you recommend?
Not sure about the new TL Speed Queen.

And reasonably priced.

Thanks

Look for a Whirlpool direct-drive top load or a Maytag Dependable Care on your local Craigslist if you want something truly 'no-nonsense'.  I don't like the new Speed Queen model. If she adamantly wants something new, look at the new commercial Maytag, model MVWP575GW. They seem to wash well and circulate clothes well. Here is a video of one in action as filmed by our own Eugene(LorainFurniture).

On your local CL, this guy appears like a used appliance dealer, you might see what he has, look for the most TOL model and for $150 and a 90 day warranty, you couldn't go too wrong. Probably only sells Whirlpool DDs, too.

TL Washer!

Gary I would recommend LG - you could check the videos on you tube to see how well they wash and read the reviews. But make sure you take a Warranty because of all the electronics!
I wouldn't touch the newer speed queen given the poorer washing performance let alone the higher price! The older models were great!

If you can wait something like 5 months...

The Laundry Alternative will release a 12kg capacity horizontal axis top load washer. 1200 RPM spin, Cold fill only, internal heater with heating delay and it can reach up to 90°C (194°F) and before anybody ask, yes, the drum is big enough to fit a king size duvet.

We will also release an "old school" 10kg capacity top load washer with a decent agitator, manual water level selector and no "Dumb down" ATC.
Well, it will have an ATC but only to boost up the temperature if you select "cold" and the cold water is extremely cold of to cool down a little bit if you water heater thermostat is set "so f-word hot that could melt even steel". It will also have the "warm rinse" option.

Both models are fully automatic, one of them is extremely slim (15.74 inches)

The company slogan should be changed to "We proudly show the middle finger to D.O.E."
