Here was a story on television tonight. It's about repairing or replacing your appliances. One point they make is to use an independent service company to repair your appliances rather than an authorized dealer. They didn't say why, but I know it's because an independent is more likely to fix your machine than to tell you that you just need a new one.

People get set in their ways. Particularly older people who had to scrimp and save for many years, fearing a rainy day around the corner. It's hard for them to change that mindset. It's become what they are.

 

Plus,  there's an element of shrewdness, for want of a better word. If they truly think the dishwasher is too expensive to operate, they're probably hand-washing dishes just on the principle of the thing!
