Today's doctrine actually came with the machine!  Its a beautiful brochure full of wonderful images and drawings.

I found this machine bolted to the floor in an old mansion in St. Paul on Summit avenue which is lined with old turn of the century mansions including the governors home.  They even still had all of the manuals and original sales literature.

The washer is date stamped Dec '41.  It must have been one of the last ones off of the line before the Bendix factory was converted over to war-time production!

Here is the original thread about that machine from 2005...

AHA !

I was wondering what that blob of goo on the window of my Bendix was. The Good Housekeeping sticker was gone when I bought it but the excellent glue they used remains.
Will someone please help me move it to the basement? PLEEEEEASE!
I must get me an appliance dolly. Jeepers.

Hmm.

The one I picked up last fall is a '41 as well. I think.

Not in quite as good condition as yours, but restorable once I get a round toit.

Thanks for the doctrine. This is one I'll be sure to download.

When can you put up the "General Operating Manual"?

PS-My Mom had one of these washers when I was a kid in the 1950's. I remember it looming large on its big concrete block between the slanted cellar door and the big oil fed gas/water furnace heater. It always seemed to get things spotless, too, although I remember Mom fussing over it a lot, esp. when she added too much home-made soap to it. And just like in the brochure, everything got line dried. No mechanical dryer in that house.
