That is both the actual machine and owners manual are super rare. It is the owners manual to the Maytag Combination Washer/Dryer! I had a lot of fun reading this as I was scanning it in last night. How many actual Maytag Combos do we know of out there, maybe 3?

There is also another KitchenAid service manual as well as a super rare brochure for the Beam Central Vacuum. Beam made both washer parts as well as complete central vacuum systems.

Thanks for posting Robert!  I believe there are about 5-6 Maytag combos total - those lurking out in the wild, as well as those held in captivity in member's basements.

When I was about 11, daddy met with someone at corporate HQ at the gas company in Jacksonville, FL. They met at the main office which was not full of appliances like the utility company stores we saw in the 50s and 60s, but in the lobby of the building there were a couple of appliances, one of which was the Maytag gas combo. During the meeting, I stayed down there with the combo. I read all of the stuff, moved the dials and the dry timer lever, pushed the buttons and just had a grand time inhaling that new washer rubber smell. It was better than an amusement park for me and NOBODY BOTHERED ME!

The Grail of Grails

The Maytag museum has one on display, and one in hiding, or so the myth went. I spoke to the curator, and she researched the hiding one, returning with the verdict about a week later. No such gem, but she gave me a phone number of a man who might have an MT Combo. The number was a dead end, alas.

I did this for John Combo. He had promised me the moon if I could find him this ever elusive Machine.

This will be exciting bedtime reading tonight, Robert. Thank you. Maybe this Ephemera will flush out a finding, and John will have his dream.

Cool Owners Manuel

Thanks Robert I really enjoyed reading the MT Combo owners manual, even though I had a MT combo many years ago and washed and dryer at least a hundred loads in it I never saw an owners manual. Now if you can only come up with the owners manual for the MT Gas Combo model 440C. This gas combo was the only gas heated dryer I ever saw that used cold water for condensing in addition to being vented outside, WOW.

What a treat! It's back to the future with load sensing for water level control and 30 second redistribution tumbles during spin, if needed.
Chimes for the Wash n Wear cycle. Heats to a toasty 165. Surprised at how versatile it is, like being able to turn off the heat at any point.
And joy of joys, if I read correctly, it works with the door open.

So John, you've washed hundreds of loads. What do you think if its performance and cleaning ability? Or Ben, or whoever has the pleasure of using one.
