WOW!! The cabinet reflecting off the toaster made a cool "woodgrain" effect-had me fooled-Bet if that toaster should break-it could be easily fixed.I can smell the toast now!!My mom had some Sunbeam machines--a toaster(it lowered the bread inside SLOWLY-then when done Raised it SLOWLY) was pretty cool and it did a good job.There was a Sunbeam store and servicecenter in the Wash DC area-she got it from there-she also had her old Sunbeam mixer fixed there.And she got a Sunbeam"Courier" breifcase like vacuum there-did a nice job.Used it quite a lot. she also had a Sunbeam electric skillet.Made good pancakes on Sun mornings!!
 
Here's a Sunbeam Radiant Control

Tolivac, you're talking about the Sunbeam Radiant Control Toaster. I have a few different variations on this one. They made a version of this toaster for years and years just changing the logos or stickers or imprints in the chrome slightly, but never the basic body or guts. It was considered the cadillac of toasters. There are no controls on this. You put the bread in and the elevator automatically lowers the bread and then automatically raises the bread when the toast is perfect.

Considering how much this toaster cost in today's dollars, it amazes me how many of these I stumble across.

I see you have the original version where the cord is hard-wired into the lid and can't be immersed. I had one of those, then bought the updated version where the power came in through the bottom tray via a standard detachable appliance cord. This made both pieces immersible.

And you're really keeping true to form, I noticed the Ericofon is connected using the old 4 prong telephone jack system instead of the current RJ11 jacks. In my experience those cords and plugs were MUCH sturdier, than the current RJ11 stuff where those darn little tabs are always breaking off. I have a lot of the "conversion" stuff that converted from one to the other that's hard to find anymore.
 
Well, actually...

If you were to look very close, the previous owner of the phone had removed the 4 pronged jack and put on some funky looking rj11. That's actually an adapter into the four pronged outlet. My other ericofons have the original 4 pronged plugs. The eriofons came with and without tweeters. This one came without a tweeter and I sent it to the guy whose web site I listed below. He performed surgery and inserted the loudest tweeter he had into it (he uses all original new old stock). I use this in the kitchen so I can hear the phone ring when I'm out on my sun porch.

I have plenty of old four prong plugs if I wanted to convert it back, but I have many projects lined up before I'll get to that. In one bedroom of this house, there is a ringer hard wired into the wall that rings whenever there's an incoming call, so hearing the phone in that section of the house is not a problem.

You are the luckiest small appliance finder that I have ever seen! That Kenwood is terrific! What a wonderful mixing system in such good condition! Although I have never seen this brand here in the US, I will keep my poor presbyopic eyes opened for some dough hooks.

Tell me, is this the same Kenwood of stereo fame?

4 prong convertor

You're right, now I see that it's one of the square RJ11 to 4 prong convertors. Some of the convertors are round nowadays and the RJ11 socket is on the front. Is the hard wired bell one of those the phone company offered where one had a choice of soft ring, regular ring, or a "doorbell" ring?

Oh Versatronic, you are the first person I've met who owns one besides me! I love it so much!

Mines slightly different one the sides. Instead of a wood grain pattern mine is simply black plastic/bakelite but the size and shape of the over all oven are exactly the same.

Versatronic, I really like your toaster collection. I'd never seen the Proctor Silex with turquoise trim. I have the Toastmaster Sovereign with white, rather than black, handles, and the glass sided Sunbeam is still on my someday list. Great peeks of your overall home too!

Kenmore1978, I don't know anything about the bell. It appears to be original to the home because I know the paneling paint job is original and the bell was painted to blend right in. It looks to me that there is only a slider for volume. It says Bell System and Western Electric on it.

The place has a lot of weird things on the walls. I'm not sure what some of the stuff is. Seems there was some motion detector alarm system in here or maybe they are smoke detectors. And perhaps there was an intercomm system in this place. I know what all the contraption are, really.

Scott, a Soverign with white handles? Wow. I've never see that. I have two and they both have black handles.

Perhaps we should start a thread "Sunbeam - What were they thinking" to display our favorite Sunbeam stuff.
 
I found my Sunbeam radiant toaster, models T-20 I think without going to check, a few months ago at the flea mkt. It was in very clean condition inside and out but it was sticking on the way down, just took off the cover, sprayed a little WD 40 on the workings and it's as good as new. Makes great toast as well.
Your Sunbeam glass toaster is super, haven't come across any of those one.
Speaking of glass toasters though,,Black & Decker has their see-thru glass sided toaster the Arize which automatically lowers and raises the toast as well. I bought one for its novelty when they were liquidating them for $14. It's a fire hazard though as any bread other tban store bought sliced catches on fire as it moves past the calrod element which is too close.
 
The T-20

The model I showed previously changed suffeciently enough, I guess, to give it a new model number. It was a T-35. The one in this picture still have the T-20 designation. You can see the differences. You know, Pete, some T-20s have a screw on the bottom of them, and if the elevator isn't working quite right, you can keep turning the screw a half revolution left until the elevator is working properly. There's a hole underneath the unit and the screw is recessed into the hole.

It would be very difficult to pick my favorite Sunbeam electric coffee pot, but this one is one of my favorites, and it gets runner-up for the Jetsons styling award.

And there were other vintage toasters that did have a sort of box shape to them that had inserts on either side with that early sixties style art on it. I can't remember the makers. I even came across a four slice one like that in town here. None of them quite measure up to the sunbeam, though.
