Man... that is one fine-looking washer!  The washing machine, not the lady!

Yeah what an awesome machine. And features to boot! 10 hours of automatic soak!? WOW! Plus 4 speeds and a bleach dispenser in the agitator? I'd settle for it.

HOTPOINT LADY EXECUTIVE WASHER

The problem with HPs styling was even though it looked great it was just cheap to make stamped steel and it would corrode and rust. You could always tell by this time that the HP line was the poor cousin to GEs appliances. That LE HP washer didn't even have a florescent light.

CHEAP STEEL CONTROL PANELS

I should have said that I was talking about the control panel. Most washer manufacturers used cast aluminum or stamped aluminum or even plastic or glass for thier panels. These surfaces were much more durable than the cheap to make but attractive when new painted steel panes.

CUTOM CRAFTED bt Hotpoint

I like that the control panel shows enough room around each knob for what it does...

The later Hotpoint control panels didn't... Seems as though the more a knob would do, the less space would be given for it & the writing would just look cluttered & clustered around it... (The later Frigidaires were the same way!)

I wish washers (& dryers) today had that same beautiful layout, right down to the left-opening lid (though it would land on the top of my dryer; my Kenmore's lid at least doesn't) and the fabulous colors!
