I love that '56. I agree with Gyrofoam. That might be the best looking WP ever. There seems to have been tons of those sold.....as I saw them much later during my "trash" inspections. Couldn't resist that button to open the lid. I also remember two VERY loud end-of-cycle signals that were piercing......followed by the machine shutting down and hearing the tub "knock-knock-knock" to a halt.

Lint Filter on '56?

Sorry, but I forgot my original question from my previous post. I don't remember there being a lint filter on the '56. Were there some models that didn't build the waterfall lint filter?
 
BTW...the Hotpoint seemed to take forever (1 - 2 minutes)for the basket to stop spinning. Could this have been possible or was something probably wrong with the tub brake

Nope it was just fine, Hotpoint washers didn't incorporate a brake until the late 60's.
 
OK, now if early Hotpoint and SQ washers didn't have a tub brake, did the tub index during agitation? If not, how was it held stationary?
