Are all toilet bowl cleaners in liquid form now? I remember using Sani-Flush crystals in the 70's and 80's, loved the way it foam and looked like the water was boiling, it was great stuff.

Weird

that you would post this question when I was just thinking about this very thing over the weekend.

I also remember the SaniFlush crystals. You really didn't even have to scrub the bowl after using this.

Kaboom, which I believe is in the OxyClean family and something that Billy Mays used to pitch, does have a powder cleaner that foams and bubbles in the bowl, but it doesn't clean all that well. You still have to scrub just as hard as if you hadn't used it.

Vanish. Made by Johnson's Wax.

It hasn't been on the shelves for a long time. The last time I bought some it had hardened into a lump and I got a refund by calling the Johnson's 800 number. I expect that's why they stopped making it.

Yes,remember those. They did contain an acid-stronger than what is used now.And of course the Vanish and SaniFlush cleaned better-no "potty swabbing"And they left a nice smell in the bathroom when they were working.Remember it from the "duty rosters"as a kid one of the duties was bathroom cleaning. That was the only good part of that "duty".I beleive the acid in those was Sodium Bisulphate-a partially neutralized sulfuric acid-and was in crystal form. You evaporated the partially neutralized sulfuric acid solution ot get the sodium bisulphate crystals. There was an alkaline powder in the mix for both of those(gave the bubbling action)and a scent.Alone=the acid and alkaline don't smell too good.

If we didn't have any toilet bowl cleaner I would use Comet instead, still use it today when I run out of toilet bowl cleaner.

We used Sani-flush

The Bathroom was my Dad's room, and he liked it clean.

I like Total that de-limes and cleans, just be careful not to splash it on your carpet or you will have bald spots. It must be pretty strong.

I also use, you guessed it, Bleach.
