Very uncommon control panel though! Looks like it has the GM badge on the console with the three boxes, instead of the single box for the 'F' used by WCI. (example below). Maybe it is very very late? Dial looks set up similar to the Holy Grail washer.
pdub, do you have the literature for the holy grail machine, Ben mentioned? Id like to see what the holy grail frigidaire looked like. lots of buttons? thank you arthur
is just the lowest water setting. It's VERY low. You have to use the slow agitation speed or else the machine will bounce around. It's enough water to wash a few small items.
Here's a complete Whirlpool set in the same area, in excellent condition according to the photo. If someone's making the trip, why not pick up all three?
I don't know if all the two or three speed 1-18s had it but the Elite washer I had in teracotta red would not allow a high speed agitation until the water level was set at low to medium. the older models I had from the earlier 70's did not have that feature and if you used the high speed agitation with a mini load, all the water would splash upward on the edge of the inner tub. That would cause some posible leakage and rust down in the trasnsmission. The newer ones had the slower delecate agitation for lower water levels.I found this out truly by accident when I got a full Frigidaire kitchen free in terricotta from a dealership in Florida.I hooked everything up and had a mini load of my swimsuite and towels. I set it for high agitate/high spin and questiones the agitator going slower. I played around with the water level and saw it nspeed up after about 1/3 up the agitator.Great feature beautiful set. The refrig was the one with the answering/radio/recorder. the range was the TouchNcook with a black front and full see through window door.I truly loved them all!
Pdub thanks for posting the picture, actually the one you posted is one i do remember seeing on a showroom floor looong ago. It was interesting to see the different console layouts, on your above post. thanks again, arthur
First of all that has to be the most beautiful 1-18 washer I've ever seen I've never seen a 1-18 with those kinds of timers before. Now the question, How do you work the timer does it automatically move when you press the start or stop buttons?
From what I understand you choose your options by pushing the desired buttons then push the START button next to the status indicator dial. I'm assuming to pause the machine you'd push the STOP button and to reset the timer you'd push the CANCEL WASH button and this would probably activate a rapid advance to the end. This is all just a guess. Your mileage may vary.
Oh how I wish I could stumble across a set like these.
