Kenmore electronic W/D set from the mid 90's. Washer electronics original. The dryer needed the main board replaced sometime in the 00's. Few years ago lighting took out the dryer board again. New board from e-bay installed only to discover the touch panel was fried as well. Only touch panel available (e-bay) was a slightly newer style with a single difference "extra delicate" cycle vs "towels". The new board from e-bay had instructions to cut a resister if the panel had "towels". Naturally thinking the touch panel was fine -- I did. A surprise occurred when I went back to e-bay looking for the touch panel -- found both a dryer and a washer panel plus another new dryer board. So I bought all three. Installing the panel and the second new board got me working dryer -- now with an "extra delicate" cycle. I have that second board with the cut resister as a back up. I'm assuming I need a newer main board for the washer -- since the other panel has some differences. Most noticeable is an "auto temp' position on the newer panel and the washer has an actual switch for that hidden up by the light. I'm wondering if anything will be fried if install the newer touch panel with the old board. The set will match. Assume my original switch will still work the auto temp.
