Along with the vinegar....

....you might want to try some baking soda in the wash. I use a good handful and it helps with the odors and boosts detergent performance (although not as much as the STPP I also add...LOL)

Solved!!!

I discovered the cause of bad smells in my laundry! It's my flatmate indeed! I sniffed around his "clean" towels and they smell as bad as mine after they've been sitting with the dirty sfuff for a year!!! As I told you he never washes more than 30°C or 40°C!!!

Anyway I used vinegar in the last rinse istead of the softener and run the washer in a boilwash with dishwasher powder. This got my towels sparkling clean and smell free!
