I've had one for 23 years and won't be without one. Wet, smelly trash immediately is taken out to the curb. Only compactable trash is put in the compactor. I get the paper bags at walmart and they last a long time. I only empty it once a month or 6 weeks. It's mostly paper and cardboard, pepsi cartons, etc. My original was a Kenmore in white. Bought it as a factory serviced with warranty from local Sears at the mall. Then when I changed back to black appliances I found a KA one on CL for $50. It was practically unused so I got it and tried to give my white one away but no one wanted it. Sent it to Goodwill. The black one is still doing fine. I'd love to have one of the Hobart KA compactors from days gone by....
