It was filthy and full of brown gooey stuff. But as much as GG thought it was too gross, I pulled out my reserves and the big guns, and reassured him that I could handle it.

Nothing some soap and water and chemical warfare can't fix.

Grease is the word...........

Prepraing for a bout of oven-cleaner. Sodium Hydroxide (LYE)anyone? Masking sensitive parts. Chemical applied. ooooh that burns!

The lye converts grease into soap (saponification) that further lifts more grease

First round after degreasing and chemical warfare.

All that remained were some rust spots!

Then the steel-wool soap pad scrub begins. VIVA brillo and S.O.S pads!

Anything that was removable went into the DANBY countertop dishwasher.

Aluminum, galvanized, chrome stainless-steel. It's all good when something is so filthy.
