Tucson Wash In DVD

I've created a little DVD featuring the Tucson Wash In that was held at the end of March. I would like to share it with those in the club. For you new members that wonder what on earth goes on at a wash in, here's your chance to see it. And for our hosts Roger, Ross and Nate, again thank you for your wonderful hospitality. A very a special thank you to Bob and Steve for their help in this. I'm trusting they they got their copies and that they played okay.

This is a DVD that "should" work in most DVD players and those that have computers that can play a DVD, not to be confused with a photo CD. There are always the exceptions. I've also included a small "bonus" feature on the DVD as well. If you do not have a DVD player, please let me know and I will try to get the footage over to a VHS tape for you. Additionally the DVD is in North American format, NTSC. So for those members outside of North America, I'm happy to send one, but not sure if it will work with your formats.

Best of all, it's free. What I do need is your name and mailing address, just send me an e/mail, to [email protected]. Now, my e/mail as of late, thanks to Cox Cable, has been a bit crazy, I'm losing e/mails. So once I get yours, I'll respond to you.

Post Person

We have a small express Post Office in a local grocery store that was open today. So the first batch of DVDs went out.

But try explaining to the nice Post Office lady what you are mailing, then what the content is. "Uhmmm, DVDs of old wash machines. We have a club where we get togethers and people do washing. And there are old wash machines."

She didn't call the for the men in white coats or a butterfly net, but next time I'm in there, I'll show her what one of the DVDs looks like. Yes, they are in living color!

Next Batch is Out!

Post office wasn't too bad tonight, so got the next batch of DVDs in the mail.

I've had a couple of inquires if these are files I'm sending. And no, they are physical DVDs. The files themselves would be too large to send. Plus you wouldn't get the cool menues! So if you'd like one, just pop me an email with your snail mail address, and I'll get one out to you!

Oh my God Mike, I just got my DVD in the mail this afternoon and of course couldn't wait to watch it!!! You are so talented!! That is really a professional production. You totally brought back all the fun of the three days we were together. It was like it was all just happening. How can we ever thank-you for this wonderful gift!! It very much was my pleasure in making it. I'm glad the thing is playing on a variety of DVD players. This was my first go around with Encore, which after you edit the movies, Encore is the program for doing the DVD layout and design. A very powerful program and a good learning curve.

And yes, I'm thinking of some themes for next year!

I watched mine yesterday night...

and I did enjoy it. It was fascinating to watch the ironer lessons. When I was a kid, everybody had one of these things in their basement but it was always covered up and I never saw one in use. (we of course never had one) I didn't realize until just now when I came to make this post that your handle is "Ironrite".

Also when I was a kid, the nuns at the local parish school used to refer to ironing with a machine as "mangling". Is that another name for the Ironrite sort of device, or is it a different machine altogether?

The Secret is Out...

I'm glad you enjoyed the Ironrite move. The bonus feature is both parts of the Ironrite video from Prelinger Archives. It's been linked around here many times, but thought this would be a good time to share the complete video.

Yes, I've had two of the Ironrite machines, though due to space limitations I've had to sell them. One is with a good friend of mine in Phoenix. I'm trying to talk him into bringing it to Tucson, should there be another wash in down there.

Here's also a link to the term mangle, which appears to have come from a wringer mechanism. It's not specific to the Ironrite brand.

Afternoon Delight

Mike,
I got the DVD in today's mail. The world stopped while I put it in. I loved the intro with the cowboy song and the vintage cars.
It is fun for me to see pictures of the different members and begin to associate a face with name.
The washer shots are great and as always, never enough.
But then, you left me wanting more..
