Turquoise GE range

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

This range is also listed on ebay.  It was previously listed for $800 OBO.  I received an offer a lower amount as I was watching the listing.  The description states that everything works as it should, so I sent a question to the seller asking specifically about the Sensi-Temp element.  I never received a response, so I stopped watching the item.  Just within the past 24 hours the stove has been listed again, this time for $600 OBO.  It is in MI.  I am watching it again.  It is tempting....

Turquoise doesn't come around very often.

That range has the skylight oven window, a feature that disappeared when the P7 feature was introduced on that model. The Skylight oven window necessitated the use of a curved porcelain broiler reflector at the front of the oven and a weirdly shaped broiler element that ran from side to side instead of front to back. The Consumer Reports write up on the first range with a self cleaning oven had a lot of say about this range, like why did GE put the Self Clean feature on a range with so many features that made cleaning difficult like the cramped cooktop with the buttons in the splatter zone.

The Contest

As those of you who are Seinfeld fans may remember, in 'The Contest' each character puts a $50 bet on their ability to refrain from a certain personal form of gratification, and first thing the next morning, Kramer comes into Jerry's apartment, slaps his $50 on the counter and announces "I'm out!"

Well as far as this turquoise beauty is concerned, I'm out.

I've had several email conversations with the Seller and he's been nice enough and easy enough to work with, but even at the reduced price we've discussed, when shipping is added to the equation, the total is just more $$$ than I need to be throwing around.  There are several other items in my house that could benefit from that much money.  So I told the Seller today that I'll pass.

Now this exciting feeling of having the freedom to spend money that I didn't realize I had....

IMO one of the best

I agree with Tom about the buttons on the edges instead of the backspash where they belong for lots of reasons.

Eventually this stove evolved into the J757, which was one of the best electric stoves ever made at that time. It was the same stove as the Americana without the eye-level 2nd oven.  Almost as good as the frequently CU top-rated GM Frigidaires but included significant bells and whistles such as a built-in Meat Thermometer and, of course, the wonderful GE rotisserie.
