Hey Everyone:

I am now the proud owner of the turquoise Maytage set from Grandbury Texas. Since I live in Ft. Worth (Soon to be in Winston/Salem) It was just too good an opportunity to pass up.
Problem with washer - I hooked up the water hoses and turn on the valves and water immediately started leaking from under the machine. Any Ideas??? I haven't broken into the machine yet just needed some ideas. Maybe a total rebuilt but the machines are beautiful. Thanks to Robert for posting it on the site. I may have some machines for sale shortly as I'm running out of room and I do have the move coming up. Anyone and everyone E-Mail me at [email protected]
Chris R. (St. Louis) I need to get in touch with you. Please e-mail me.

Congrats on the beautiful new set. Most integral parts are still available for the washer so you should have no trouble finding what you need. It sounds as though the first thing on the list to buy is a new water valve. It wouldn't be unusual to see a cracked valve body at this age and it's an easy repair. Have you tried spinning the washer to see how it runs?

There is a hose that goes from the water valve solenoids to the tub fill assembly(we'll get to that later)that has a clamp. Make sure that is intact.
If you got leaks without even plugging the machine in and turning it on electrically, only from water pressure, then you got problems with the solenoids, and easy part to replace.

If you only get leaks when you turn it on electrically on the dial to fill, then you have problems past the fill solenoids to the fill tube ejector, which is the most common leak problem in Maytag.
If it doesn't leak until the tub is filling, then you got problems with the tub seal or the hose from the outer tub to the pump. Opening the front of the machine will reveal all,but watch for flying parts on the transmission if you run it while the front panel is off!
