Gimmee a Break and stuff.....
The machine that was used on the opening sequences to "Gimmee a Break" show was a Eureka Cordaway Brandywine Canister TOL model. I don't rememeber the exact model number off hand but Jeff probably would know unless I could just find the pamphlet he gave me on the Brandwine series cleaners..... It was the TOL machine the canned hambody with the hose coming out of the top. Not in front like most Eureka can's.
I believe that the machine used in the "Munsters" was the old cylindrical Eureka tank type. But all that dust thru the motor...whatever it was...after that episode was done...that poor thing was probably trashed.
There was an Episode of "Mama's Family" where she took to court the makers/or sellers of what appeared to be a mid 80's Kenmore Twin Fan upright...that I remember was a BOL madel with a blue stripe up the bag. ANd you further know it's a TwinFan as it has the small rectangle shaped headlight and the tall adjustment knob...and it was set to LO bacause the machine looked VERY hiked up in the back. Anyway, Mama was mad over some such thing and was trying to sue them for some such reason over something the machine did or diddn't do.
There was one episode that I just saw recently of the Golden Girls where you can plainly see (in the garage)the handle and upper bag of an OLD Oreck, one of the early Whirlypool knokoff's old if you know what I mean.
Also on "I dream of Jeannie" she sucked off the caot of one of Major Nelson's collegues with what appeared to be a LARGE Shop Vac type cleaner and when taken out it was cut to shreds. A piece of magical legeardamain might I add.
Also on "Happy day's" Marion had a VERY out of place Kirby Classic Omega that she was using to clean Fonzies apartment.
"Laverne and Shirley", the sucessful spin off of the former used a Hoover 918 that had a horribly taped up upper handle and sat way in the back of the set by the window that looked up to the street. In another episode Laverne was trying to vacuum one of their few rugs with a period 1970's Regina Cyclonic canister that I rememebr was a deep forest green and a lighter lemony green...that was equipped with way too many wands which made the thing impossible to use..and of course it created hoopla and laughter...but the machine again was out of place for the time period..becasue they were still in Milwaukee when this episode aired. I don't remember seeing one in California tho.
On one episode of Ozzie and Harriet, you can plainy tell that Chris, Ricky's wife was using a period early 1960's Hoover Convertible in their apartment. It's the episode where she gets a job to buy a lamp that she saw.
And finally the machine used on "Everybody Loves Raymond" was in fact a Rainbow, and in the credits it gives thanks to Rexair Corp. of Troy Michigan.
I could think ofmore but I have laundry to do...
