i dont suppose anyone on here knows about repairing televisions as im currently trying to fix one of my own, its a SHARP 66DS-03IR 28" C.R.T TV its stuck in standby and wont do anything else, i replaced the chopper transformer as i thought this was the problem but still no luck, can anyone help.

Since you have replaced the "chopper transformer" you have some knowledge of electronics and how to work on those things-do you have the schematic or Sams folder for the TV?these can give you information you need to troubleshoot the set-Its been a long time since i have worked on TV's but remember in later TV's they had "HV monitoring-shutdown circuits" to monitor the operation of the sets HV section-The HV that is fed to the anode of the pix tube.If it was too high or somehow out of tolerence to the monitor circuit-the monitor circuit would shut down the HV supply when the set was turned on.I am wondering if a component in the circuit is defective-causing the set to shut down.I am assuming the "chopper transformer" is the horizontal output-HV transformer?Oh yes--Is the horizontal output transistor and its associated Damper diode good?Is the horizontal oscillator circuit working-An oscilloscope can check this.the HV monitoring circuit in the TV should be shown on the schematic or the Sams folder.(Sams folders can be gotten from most large electronic part suppliers-Bring the Model# of the set and look thru the Sams index.that will give you the folder# of your set-please note-you will get some schematics on sets that you don't have-the one on your machine is the one you will need. The last time I bought a folder was about 7 bucks)The Sams folders contain schematics, parts lists, troubleshooting info--worth the price of the folder alone! Most repairmen use Sams folders to help them fix sets.

every time i get close to geting it working again it blows and i think the flyback might be bad but i dont want to order a new flyback if thats not the problem.
